TVR Tuscan carbon canister
Discussion
Hi, I've been looking into the workings of the carbon canister system on my 2002 TVR Tuscan. The canister itself has the three expected ports. The lowermost connects to the purge valve and the middle one presumably connects to the petrol tank, but the top one (which I gather is supposed to connect to a vent valve, at least on more conventional cars) simply has a tube that is open to the atmosphere. Is this standard for Tuscans, or is mine missing an important part?

Hi Matrix2k20, thanks for that. Yes, it's the same arrangement on mine. No doubt TVR 'didn't get the memo' about putting a valve onto the vent port when they built the car…my next challenge is to find out why the petrol tank is always under pressure (taking the petrol cap off is like opening a can of fizzy drink). I suspect the tubing from the tank to the carbon canister is blocked or kinked, otherwise the built-up pressure should release through the ever-open vent port, but tracking the tubing from the engine bay to the tank is not going to be easy!
