Tuscan nasty replacement cam followers

Hi guys, just joined the site and am wondering if ya could point me in the right direction. I've got a 2001 tuscan and have just had the 24k service at Offord's in Cambridge, the car had a pretty harsh tapping sound which had got worse since i owned it. Offords carried out the Tappet adjustment and adjusted them to compensate. They found that a set of the Cam followers are seriously worn (2mm instead of 6mm apparently) and that it would have to return to the factory for an engine out job. Has anyone tried changing these followers or does anyone know of a place that undertakes this type of job. Any advice would be grand cheers
May I suggest that you search the numerous threads on the S6 engine within these forums....I think you will soon discover more on the subject. The engine does not have to go back to the factory there are other individual specialists that can do the rebuild work for you, but it does seem to be very expensive work. I dont think anyone on these pages has attempted a home repair.....its a bit of a black cloud subject...!

Hope you will get the car for most of the summer. am thinking of taking my Tuscan to Offords to take advantage of the offer on Sp6 engine servicing. I hear that Simon is well regarded in these circles but I must admit I thought they concentrated on Chims and Griffs etc.
I have a 2000 Tuscan and have had a dealer tappet adjustment every 6K miles so as to nip any potential problems in the bud. Obviously this is getting a tad expensive hence going down the indy route.

Yeah mine was the only Tuscan there at the time, Chims and Griffs did seem the norm. The whole setup seemed very Proffesional though and the pricing seemed quite resonable, and talking to some of the Engineers they did seem quite clued up.
Looked through quite a few of the Threads on Tappet noise and couldn't seem to find anyone who'd taken there cars to anywhere besides Blackpool. Anyone know of anywhere and how much money i'm talking for Replacement Cam and Followers?
