Odd vibration from my car..
Discussion
Hello again guys,
Drove home tonight, odd vibration has started happening regularly when driving. It sometimes happens when lifting off the accelerator whilst in gear, eg. rev to 3500rpm in 1st gear, lift off, some strange vibrating/maybe slighly grinding noise for a few rpm, then back to normal at say 3000. Does this hint at drivetrain/gearbox problem, maybe worn cogs, low oil etc?
However, it also happens sometimes when going round corners at steady speed (bizarrely)- this has me really confused...differential? suspension? ummmm..
It happens in a few other ways too, but there are short patches where it doesnt happen at all!!!
I am almost certain its not the engine itself, it sounds pretty much exactly as normal. It also appears to be coming from the rear end of the car, but i cannot be certain of this.
1) Basically I just got the car back on thursday, it has been repairing (fiberglass damage ONLY) and off the road for 6weeks. Thursday I warmed it throughly (of course!) and drove around all day..same all day today (friday). So i have used it alot in 2 days.
2) I drove home from a friends when this happened..on the way TO his house 2 hours earlier we went along a really bad country road for AGES..like 2 miles maybe. It was really bumpy, bad bad road..i was going really slow, like <10mph, but maybe that has damaged something with all the bouncing?
3) The gearbox has seemed even heavier than normal all day today (before the vibrating started), its been harder to get the car into gear, seeming a bit 'lumpy'. Perhaps its low on oil, or damaged(!)? This *might* fit nicely with the problem.
Just wondering if any you TVR geniuses has any opinions! I will be having it looked at ASAP of course, but I figured it couldnt hurt to ask on here!!
Thanks in advance guys,
Dave
