Can anyone help, 1st year renewal up on the insurance.

We are currently with direct line and no one else seems to be able to touch them after much ringing around. The are coming in at £1100 3 years no claims and the next best quote has been £2000! Any suggestions?

Thanks

Eve

Classicline for me by far the cheapest give them a try?
I pay £580 fully comp on 02 Tuscan with 5k miles maximum for extra £200 I can have unlimited miles.

Thanks
Howard.

P.S There Tel No. is 01455 639000
There policies are none refundable so if you are thinking of selling the car either use someone else or take out minimum mileage cover 3k & then up it as you need it. They do not charge any extra for keep adding on mileage.

unlimited miles? i am with them and to get another 2.5K miles I had to pay about a 30% increase on the premium !

I didn't even bother asking what the premium for unlimited was (actually, never occured to me that they were offering the cover)...

I use Classic Line as a 31 year old with max 5 year NCB, living in London. Pay £800 with £6k annual limited mileage. However I always shop around at renewal time just to check on current rates.

Thanks for the suggestions, classicline would only offer me 5000 miles for £800 or unlimited for £1200.

Privelege have come in at £1020 so an improvement on directline (aren't they part of the same group?)

Any other advances on £1020.....

Try Tesco too. Although another DL underwritten policy I think some people have had decent quotes.

I've tried Tescos for my Tamora and they won't touch it (they insured my previous convertible without any problems!). I'm curious as to how you and others have managed to insure a TVR with them as I didn't have any problems with Tescos in the past and wouldn't mind continueing with them in the future if possible.

I am with DL. Tesco wanted over 3k. Norwhich union wanted 5k..!

Mannings and Sunninghill couldnt get close either.

29 yr old, max no claims, parked on the street in Manchester.

Now that is a recipe for a high insurance if ever I heard one...

Insurance is screwed up. The premiums are all based on the questions you answer which they ask. Typical criteria that influences a quote are:

High risk area defined by your post code
Age of driver/s
number of drivers
Occupation (some occupations statistically are high risk, e.g. Sports proffesionals)
Where kept over night (sometimes no difference between garage and private drive way, again depends on post code, in the street in a city/town is considered a high risk)
Drivers history (1 claim for theft loads a premium as does DUI)
Annual Mileage (makes little difference below 5K miles a year)
Use of vehicle (social and pleasure only is cheaper to insure than S & P including commuting)

I am through Tesco. 40 year old 16 years no claims protected, clean license, in a loaded post code area (smoggy land) tho out of town, and I use the car for S&P only with 5K miles per year, me only to drive. £648 or there about's cant remember exactly. Tracker Horizon fitted but was not necessary, peace of mind.

AA Manning - a brutal £1,800 ("bad" London postcode driving this primarily, along with daily mileage); however, they are v experienced with TVR's, v friendly, european cover included, along with TVR Car Club track days as well. This quote was with protected no claims (5 yrs), no speeding tickets etc. Am 31 yrs old.

If you've had the car for a year, try Cheam on 020 8652 7733

They've just saved me £250!
