My EFI warning has come on! It's not been raining and I've not washed the car and it won't go off.

The car is due to go in for it's 30k service on Saturday and the dealer is 70 miles away. They have said that 99 times out of a 100 it turns out to be something of nothing but that driving it with the warning "could" damage the catalytic converter. The suspicion is that the lambda sensors need changing.

If it's still doing it would you drive it up to the dealer? Am I likely to do more harm driving it the 70 miles? I could do without the cost of a trailer just for it to turn out to be nothing, or worse still arrange for a trailer and then have everything working fine when the trailer arrives.

Thanks

Eve

Well I had a sensor go. About November-ish, IIRC.

Must have done 100-150 miles between the warning first coming on...

(and it's bl**dy annoying when it a) keeps beeping at you and b) won't let you see the screen you really want to)

...and getting it to the Garage. They didn't seem too concerned and it's been fine since....touches wood, of course!

3 days in France last week. Around 250 miles each day.
Day 1 - EFI popped up every 2 minutes for an hour then went away. Quite a hot day with slow traffic.
Day 2 - no messages. Cooler day with fast blats.
Day 3 - EFI popped up every 2 minutes for 10 minutes and then stopped totally. Cooler day but heavy traffic.

Common denominator - heavy traffic and slow running. Other than that, I have no idea whatsoever

Thanks guys - seeing as none of you seem to have blown up or done any other of the other dreadful things I was imaginging, I think I'll just drive up and hope that I'm not a gibbering wreck after listening to that bleeping noise for an hour!

Sounds about a few weeks back we went over to Spa for the 1000km, although I spent 3hrs in traffic on the M25.

Got to Dover - filled up with juice, parked on the ferry. When I started it up in Dunkirk, EFI warning came on, and stayed on, apart from a few 2/3 second intervals over the entire bloody weekend.

On the way home on the Sunday afternoon(after 760miles) the thing just turned itself off! How odd!
