What's the db output?
Discussion
Sorry if this has been done before, the search is down at the mo.
I am doing a track day soon and the limit is 100db.
Has anyone been sent home with a 'standard' setup on an X reg 2000 4.0l Tuscan?
I did borrow a meter from school and it came in at 96db.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers

I have been to many TVRCC track days and you are ALWAYS noise tested. The limits are stuck to and I have seen many a V8 kicked off for being too noisey. NO REFUNDS.
In fact about three years ago at Oulton Park the booking was made for a 'quiet' day (they have different noise levels on different days) and about half the field never made it onto the track.
My Tuscan runs at about 96db at 4500revs when measured at 0.5m from the exhaust (this is how they should do the test). Some enthusiastic marshalls start shoving the probe up the exhaust!!!
db ratings are exponential, so the difference between 98 and 100 is actually V large. You should not have a problem if it is a fair test.
ENJOY. I love track days. But PLEASE remember to properly warm up and warm down the SP6 engine.

Mine is a 4.0 with carbon cans. It runs at around 96db depending on how enthusiastic the marshall is.
My mates Cerb is a NOISEY 4.2 V8 which has been de-catted. This runs at about 102db.
db ratings are exponential, so 96 to 105 is HUGE.
I cant see how a 3.6 is going to be any worse than the above so you should be well under. ENJOY.
