My Tuscan seems to be idling lower than I would have thought is right. It is a Powers 4.3, rebuilt last year. From cold it idles at 700rpm and when warm 6-700rpm. With air con running only 500rpm. What idle speeds do others run at?

Mines a lot happier at 800 but after last service they have set it to 600 FFS and now it hardly runs from cold and generally runs to low on idle.Im going to adjust it this weekend.

700-800rpm seems to be the happy range for mine. As above, anything less and it is very lumpy when cold. Suppose each engine is different though and if it is running ok at those revs then you’ll save a few pennies on fuel smile

600/700/800,idle rpm is too low IMHO.

Just applying steering lock at those revs will likely put just that extra bit of load on the engine and cause it to stall.

A quick 'fix' is to get the 3mm allen key and 7 mm ring spanner out and, with a hot engine, bring the idle revs up to 850/900rpm.

The adjustment grub screw is visible between the throttle bodies for 3 and 4 cylinders. Slacken the 7mm locknut and using the allen key 'tweak' the allen screw to bring the revs up, then lock the screw with the nut.

Just be aware that this WILL affect the airflow through ALL the throttles.... The professional way is to remove the airbox and using a syncrometer, balance each TB to the required air throughput...whilst checking the engine RPM on your laptop ECU diagnostic screen.
