Dash temperature reading!
Discussion
OK Folks, some guidance, please.
Last week during drive to Clermont Ferrand, I had "Error Code G" come up - and lost indication of coolant temp on dash. I monitored the oil temp throughout and hitting Clermont during PM rush hour, I heard the radiator fans kicking in and out. - So had no undue concerns.
Yesterday, having received new sensor from TVR Parts, I installed same and turned ignition ON. Coolant temp indication was within few degrees of oil temp on cold engine (and NO Error Code G). Started motor, - coolant temp gradually increased to about 80/85 deg.C….then leapt to 199 degrees! This scenario was repeatable.
Spoke to Str8Six, Gordy advised that they have experienced some duff sensors, so get a replacement. I've done this - so awaiting same and will change out for replacement sensor next week.
Anyone else had similar experience? Thoughts?

I haven't had the issue with the Water Temp sensor, but some years ago I had the same issue with the oil pressure sensor. Initially the warning light came on indicating low pressure, replaced the sensor and it read incredibly high. That was a duff batch of sensors, I went through 3 or 4 before 1 worked properly.
^^OK, I've changed the sensor, topped the coolant, been out for a drive and coolant temp indication went to ~ 90degC (albeit after 30 minutes driving)...and then jumped to 199 degC!!
I've spoken to Jody at Python and his opinion is that it could be an issue with an electronic component on the pcb stack. I've also got a problem with the 'analogue' speedo needle not tripping the microswitch (digital readout OK) plus a very quiet indicator buzzer....so think I'll be sending the pod to him for checking.
Hope it's not the multiple duff sensor problem you had issues with.
Thanks for the reply. Nick
