Hi guys

Another day another question.

I'm considering doing a Furniture Clinic leather colour change on the Tuscan during the winter. I am still undecided as I know it's a big job, but it really could do with a refresh and I've seen some FC work that looks almost as good as a retrim! (Almost). I know the trim behind the removable dashboard top is part of the body and can't be removed, so would have to be coloured in place, but is the A Pillar and the trim piece at the top of the windscreen removable? I can't see any obvious way to do it so I would therefore assume the vinyl would have to be peeled off which obviously I won't do, but if there was a way to remove it, that would be great.

Any experience of this at all here?

I can't help I'm afraid, but I'd be interested to know the answer as I'm in exactly the same position as you - have been considering attempting a furniture clinic restoration this winter, and am looking at investing in a decent compressor and spray gun to give myself the best chance of getting a decent result. The thing that's stopping me at the moment is the thought of having to mask around the edges of all the non-removable bits of trim to spray them in-situ, and the fear of getting horrific overspray if I cock it up...

Yeah exactly. As far as I can see, all that trim and the trim behind the seats (vinyl covered) can’t be removed so needs to be done in the car. Not looking forward to that.

Hi, I'd agree - the A-pillar trim is glued over the tube/ screen reinforcement, so would need to be done in-situ.

The seat back is removeable. At the bottom there are 2 off c'sunk allen machine screws and another 2 (nuts) under the "Tuscan" badge. Remove all 4 and the covered moulding can be lifted off.

I'm hoping to give this a go myself over the winter....I understand that 5 or 6 dilute coats is the way to go and then to apply sealer over the final coat....And then regular care! My steering wheel is in dire need of re-colouring.

I'm thinking of having the carpets replaced, they need doing before anything else, so I might remove all the carpets myself, then at least it'll be less messy to do the colouring in situ for the items that need it, then have the carpets fitted. But I need to get my driver seat bolster replaced before I do anything
