When I was running the car in I noticed as I approached the 3000rpm limit (75-80mph) that my pod started to vibrate (quite violently). I mentioned this to my dealer when it went in for the 1000 mile service on last friday and of course I was told.... "they all do that sir" They checked the tracking and it was slightly out and so obviously corrected it. Result... No difference. Now that I can start turning up the revs I've noticed that the vibration doesn't subside until around 90mph (obviously I wasn't using public roads at this speed ;)).
So my question..... do they really all do that or am I just being fobbed off?

From personal experience I would say you are being fobbed off. Out of all my little probs, this isnt one of them. My 1st Tusc pod did vibrate over £100 mph, but my current one is fine (vibration wise).
Does your steering seem erratic also then as you say your tracking was adjusted?

Hi Lady T, steering seems fine, very precise, holds a straight line etc etc etc, just some drive through vibration. With my limited knowledge of cars, this strikes me as a tracking problem.... a slight irregularity that at certain frequencies (or revs) combines to produce a noticable vibration. I was assuered that even thier demo car does this and they have fitted on both the demo car and mine, some "special" foam between the pod and the dash to limit the extent of the vibration.... A poor solution in my opinion.

What happens if you change gear (and hence the revs) ?
eg 3rd gear @ 5,500 rpm (ish)

If no change, then I'd suspect wheel balancing / buckled wheels.

Wheel balancing, almost certainly. I only got rid of this problem on my MkI after I changed the tyres. My MkII is rock solid. Are you on Goodyears ?

Phil, car is too young to be doing 5000 rpm at this stage so couldn't comment.
Andy, on Goodyears.

So would you all suggest that I go back to dealer and get a "proper" fix?

Yep. If you're coming to the Tuscaneers weekend I'll take you out in my car and show you what it's like.

Cheers,

Andy.

Couldn't you just apply the clutch when you're in the middle of the 'vibration zone' rather than changing down to attempt to rule out some potential causes?
