More of the Sooty really.

Had my car about a year, it had a rebuild by HHC prior to collection. In march had a service (in prep for Track) since then the car has been using far more fuel than before. For example £38 petrol in------ 145 miles out. :yikes:(I am not so bothered about that as it was 145 very enjoyable miles)

I have noticed that one of my exhausts gets Dirtier than the other. The near side one. It seems to have little black specks round it and on the back of the car just round it. The other one is clean . (one dirty CCC is not good.

Any ideas, is it over fueled ?, but why is their dirt on only one side. Or is it a dying CAT problem ? or any other ideas. :scratchchin:

Other than that the car runs great.

Any ideas would be welcome.

Cheers
NICK

I can't answer, but just to add: have you noticed how you get deposits on the paintwork!?

I got up close with the polishing cloth the other day and was amazed - perhaps it's what they put in the Optimax!?

Edit: sorry - that reads now - it was part agreeing with you, Nick, and part rhetorical for everyone else, but it just looks like I am plonker and haven't read the post properly....oh DOH! I'llgetmecoat.......

No worries Ron.

I often find myself making comments which later I realise were a bit ..DOH!!!! (Homer-esk). I put it down to been so clever my mouth (or Typing) can't keep up with my head. So in a round about way, its a sign of great intellect.

Having said that , I would still like some help on my "Sooty question" (no comments about Sue and Sweep. please)

Cheers
Nick

Could be a dodgy lambda sensor. Had similar thing on mine when one needed replacing.

Can't really say what's wrong, but I used to get at least 200 miles out of every tank of super...

It seems really low to me.

Mine had a dodgy lambda sensor but I got an EFI warning at the same time. At that point, on the way to have it checked out, I got through approx 15 litres of fuel by travelling 32 miles!

Won't hurt to have someone have a look.

I've been told that the right bank on mine is kicking out the black stuff under acceleration, and mine has an EFI Warning up, so i'd better get it checked out. The same goes for you Millerman!
