Just seen on Hemmings website a 2004 Tuscan being sold without warranty in Las Vegas for 129000 dollars. Wow am I sitting on a small fortune? Wouldn’t it be nice to think this was a sign of things to come here in the UK

When these TVRs were reaching the 15 year "classic" exclusion for import to N America, I was in Toronto for a summer and discussed the idea with a mate who lived there. Particularly the Tuscan, as an iconic car from Swordfish and its looks defied its 15 year old reality.

Before we had a chance to follow up, a garage in Toronto had done exactly that, and had a Tuscan and Cerbera up for sale. Seem to recall they were about $70k - $80k from memory.

It's 15 years for Canada, 25 years old for the USA I believe. A few Griffs and Chimaera have already gone there.

Unless the Tuscan has type approval in the USA (were any sold there?), I don't see how a USA buyer can import it???

This is it:

Presumably it can be retained as part of a collection/driven on track etc until it becomes 25 years old?

I purchased one around 4-5 years ago, I think it went up in value slightly, now probably back down to what I paid.

Like many manufactures I tend to look at where the base models of the period levelled at. A tidy Chimera 400 or 450 for example is very desirable now, classic design, V8, powerfull, lightweight topless and very cool. These have bottomed and now at around £15K and very good value.
Griff, Cerbera's, T cars will be propped up by these values with their respective premium.

Apart from the Sagaris, the Tuscan is probably the most desirable TVR, Iconic bespoke design, exposure to international audience through playstation and Hollywood films etc, unique speed 6 engine with performance that will has and will stand the test of time.

Also, unlike most other manufactures TVR's have become more reliable better cars (relativity speaking) the older they got, due to aftermarket care, rebuild and huge enthusiast base.
So purchasing a 20 year old Tuscan from a specialist at say £25-£30K now is no more of a reliability risk than any other modern classic (Aston, Porsche, Maserati etc)

The Tuscan is a car of contrast, on one hand nothing come close to the thrill and looks anywhere near the price and probably sub £100K. Its cool. On the other hand is a TVR, which to some people means stay away.

I cant see them dropping much lower and then probably rise again. When they catch on, especially in North America where its certainly a very interesting and cool car, prices will rise but who knows when that will be????????

I posted something about this in February on the TVR USA site.

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

In the thread above you'll see few years ago there was a 2005 Tuscan S Mk2 for sale at Miramar Motors Tampa, Florida.
I called them to discuss and they told me it had sold for $100k.
It then appeared on e-bay before appearing at Celebrity Cars, this time at $300k.

I called them and they told me it was sold and that I was interested in selling mine, I should contact Miramar Tampa.

This same car reappeared in a repair shop in LA where I visited and took photo's, See above thread.

This years car was again for sale at Celebrity Cars, Las Vegas.

There was also a Mk1 Tuscan which used to be advertised by an exotic car rental company in LA. If I remember right, $1000/day to rent.
