Air conditioning noise
Discussion
From experience it pays to have the air con serviced annually and use it fairly regularly whilst driving the car. Vehicle aircon is generally expensive to have repaired. Near my home town there is a local garage that I have used historically to service aircon on an annual basis. He charges just 60 quid which is a bargain. When you consider the average repair bill comes in at 800 quid plus (excepting a Gas recharge) its money well spent. I have not had the TVR long enough to try his services on it as yet, but I will do later in the year.
Does the noise change when you increase/decrease fan speed? If so its obviously not on the air con side.
Otherwise, if your up for it yourself, you can loosen the drive belt and check that the compressor drive pully rotates freely, if so then I suggest it points towards the compressor and/or clutch drive. Thats best serviced by a dealer. If the compressor motor is stiff to turn, again its a specialist repair job and a subsequent gas refill required.
