It’s not exactly up to the heady heights some PHers attain with diy rebuilds from the ground up and such but I’m bored and this is a nice little project that fits into a weekend and it really makes a visual difference to the car. Peeling wheel arches no more! It would have cost a small fortune at str8six as it is labour intensive but after a discussion with the boss at str8six the process was very straightforward.

Well I had a couple of cans of engine degreaser I used up to get the worst of the oil and grease off. Then wire brush and sandpaper to get the worst of the delaminates layers off and attain a reasonable smooth finish. I didn’t go crazy as it’s a mess up there from the factory and I’m just not that bothered. Then washed with soap and spong. Then you guessed it 2 coats of stone chip then 2 coats of house hold gloss hand painted on. Apparently it’s much thicker than the automotive spray and very good with stone chipping. It’s also very smooth so makes jet washing the arch easy. I got an external satin as the shiny finish didn’t look right. Gave the inside of the alloys a good clean at the same time and new wheel nuts too. Looks brand new!

Did all mine with stonechip spray a few weeks ago, really tidies it all up, much harder was cleaning the chassis in the arches, previous owner had coated it really well with anti corrosion stuff, took a couples of hours per arch

Aye. Lots of waxoil on mine too. Why did you take yours off? Did you replace or leave it powder coat white?

Just wanted to see what state the powder coating was in - pretty much immaculate so simply sprayed copious amounts of Bilt Hamber UC back over it
