Just got back from Goodwood.
Had a good close up look at the new convertible and took a few close up piccies. Not sure how to post them on this thread but if anyone is interested, email me and I will send them on. Will have to reduce them as they are 8m.
One thing that is very apparent - reckon the plastic rear screen will be a big problem re scratching and possible cracking in the winter.
It looks impossible to fold the screen "softly". The screen is crushed in 2 places behind the hood struts when the hood is down. Having suffered similar problems when I had a Boxster, I can see what is going to happen.
In fact, the Tuscan rear screen "fold" is much severe than the Boxster and I can't see any way that unsightly marking/cracking of the screen can be avoided.
Any one else notice this or am I imagining problems?

They've been uploaded to ph.uncle-dave.co.uk

I've reduced the size and quality slightlyy
Otherwise they would be a nightmare for anyone without Broadband, in fact it would probably reduce them to weeping with boredom

Super High Quality Versions Available - Just drop an email over to me

Here they are:

Yep, thirded. That is not going to stand the test of time. That will be high on the agenda for regular replacement (and leaking possibly if exposed to the elements after being swapped out).

Spent quite a bit of time playing Grand Turismo 4 today and driving "my car" on it. You know, I'm not so sure about the convertible today because I think the targa Tuscan looks great with the roof on. Not that I don't like the convertible now, just the targa has the edge. I do reserve the right to think differently tomorrow though. It may just be that the convertible looks like it has its DNA mixed with the late Griffith, and diluted the Tuscans own genetic material a little. Still, I LOVE the new dashboard still

That is just rubbish IMHO. Definately agree with you on the cracking rear screen problems. That's a warranty claims nightmare. Personally I just dont like it. It looks cheap. Also the seat belts are the wrong way. How do you get the belts undone if you had a side impact Taking the Tamora dash was a good idea but I am still not sold by the "swoopyness" of it...

I've had a couple of convertables and they are fun but the roof does tend to get a little tatty with the UK weather. I ended up buying a hard top for an //M Roadster that I had. I like the orginal Tuscan Targa roof design. Roof off fun and it doesnt get tatty.. Thing is does the Tuscan really need a convertable? Backward step in TVR design methinks...

Cheers

I see the point about the screen. But would it really be any worse than previous TVR rear screens?

Also - point about the belts is well made. Maybe they have found a way that the belts will actually work (i.e. unravel!) on any incline over .00001 degrees!

The idea is growing on me, the roof will be a lot quicker to drop and raise, certainly. But the chameleon like coupe to open change of the "standard" design, with a much better "look" with the top up than any other convertible was always the Tuscan's strong point.

In the Chim I had, the screen was prone to rubbing on the struts when folded down. I just think, as has been pointed out, that the additional presence of the roll hoops, which can be seen contacting the folded window, is going to cause additional wear and tear to what is a fairly delicate part of the bodywork.

My point entirely about the targa. It looks great with the roof UP! Therefore 2 cars for the price of 1 IMHO.

Is it me, or does that new T2 Convertable look grotty already? I note the corners of the rear folding roof are already beginning to rip, and those struts for the rear screen will interfere with the hoops ot rear of the seat (they do on the Tam, if the seat is too far back, the struts will scratch the fu*k out of the paintwork on the seat!)
Also, those window buttons look as though they should have gone either side of the radio pod.

Have to admit, this is the very first time I haven't said 'WOW' at a new TVR interier!, it just looks shoddy!

I think the interior is a work of art, one of TVR's best efforts only surpassed by the Tuscan mk1 IMO . The matching swoops of the dash and bonnet are fantastic, let's hope the ergonomics are up to the job though. A very good start to the NS era visually.

Saw the car at Goodwood yesterday and actually thought the new interior looked very good, much better than in the pictures I'd seen. Would look even better with a bit more imagination with the colour choices.

Neither of the cars (T2 Conv or Sagaris) seemed to be overly clean or well prepared considering the number of potiential customers there. The Aston's were absolutely gleaming.

I also think they should have tried there hardest to get a Typhon there.

Agree with Graham on this one. The convertible was the same model I saw the prior weekend at Le Mans and it appeared to still have half the dust from that excursion on it!

Of greatest shame to me was that there did not appear to be anyone from the factory available for discussion. May have been the time/day, but when I looked at many of the other marques (Marcos/Aston), there was always someone there to assist. The amount of interest in both the Tuscan and Sagaris was significant, so hoping that I am wrong on this and it was simply a temporary absence. Would love to see this interest converted into hard orders...

I'm pleased to see decent dials being used in place of the Tonytronic thing from the current Tuscan2. I'm not sold on the big machined knobs in the centre console though, just stick the Tamora/T350 dials/buttons into the stereo pod. The current knobs look a bit too 'Marcos' IYKWIM.

The seatbelts look interesting. Thing is, in the past 12 months/10,000 miles driving my T350 I have never had a problem with either belt locking when you don't want it to on the level/near level.

I love the external styling on the T2 too.
