Hi guys can someone point me in the right direction for petrol additive to store car over winter please. I've seen reviews on Sta bil but are there any other recommendations of additives someone on here has actually used?

What are your concerns about storing the car with fuel in?

Running a good quality high octane fuel from Shell with their cleaning additives before parking her up would easily do. The fuel will be fine to use after quite a few months and as long as theirs not much left in the tank a fill up with the same quality stuff will be fine come Spring.

Esso's Supreme Plus is more stable, despite it carrying a E5 tag, it actually contains 0% biofuel unlike the big name others. And recently upgraded from 97 to 99 Ron.
I have no commercial connection with Esso, and was a Shell V-Power fanboy until I started reading up on biofuel and its nasty effects, and discovering that Esso have pledged not to blend it in their super UL (caveat: in most regions...).

It'll be fine.

But, if it worries you, go for a final big blast & run the tank down to 1/4. Then fill up after hibernation.

(Then you'll get people telling you the exposed 3/4 of the fuel tank will be oxidising hehe)

It’s based on motorbikes... but still relevant, I think

That's interesting, I also used to be a v power fanboy too but find mine runs at least as well if not better on 95 Esso. Will research whether it contains any biofuel. Thanks.

Fuel in the USA, as mentioned in the video, has 10% ethanol. Over here it's E5, 5% (at the moment 10% is mooted to be on the way frown). Super unleaded is not required to have any ethanol, at the moment ....

However, I left my motorcycle 6 months (covered but outdoors) last winter without using it and it started and ran fine. I think the majority of the UK doesn't have temperatures low enough to need stabiliser.

Just brim the tank to remove as much air as possible.

Thanks Guys appreciate the responses. The reason for asking is that I have read several reports of fuel deteriorating after a month and I think The RAC mentioned it in one of their news letters

The octane rating will drop slightly but the car will still start and be fine.

You’re over thinking it.
