Can anyone owning a Tuscan S or other that has a boot lid mounted DAB aerial tell me - is it detachable???

Just wondering from the point of view is it possible to do this so that a fitted car cover can be thrown over with out the car looking like is has woken up with a "morning glory" :hehe:

What is opinon on the bootlid ariel - do people like it or think it ruins the cars lines?

On the standard Pioneer version, the aerial unscrews, leaving the plastic base attached to the boot lid. Should be fine for a car cover.

Thanks for answering that. A Tuscan owner for 3 years (this week) and I still find questions to ask!

Just checked your profile Pete - that is a lovely Tuscan and a little different from the usual. Nicely done.

Why not lose the base and have the aerial fitted inside the boot lining? This way (a) no one sees it, and (b) you have no fitted car cover issues.

This is what I did.

'cos you can't create a ground plane on the underside of the bootlid (mine's done with aluminium tape under the carpet).
Tried both the hidden & bootlid positions - bootlid works far better.

Fair enough although mine seems to work absolutely fine. Carl Baker sorted it for me and I guess he knows what he's doing. I didn't think to ask him about the ground plane.

I took Leadfoot's advice and created a ground plane with a big 'T' of aluminium tape under the carpet. I get perfect DAB and FM reception now, whereas before it was a bit patchy.

The stripes have gone, I'm afraid - only for Le Mans this year!

Curiously, I think my DAB aerial is currently inside the front offside wing! Well, I traced the black wire from the receiver in the boot all the way to under the dash where it then goes into the wing. I removed the side repeater indicator and can still see the same wire going God only knows where

I get 'reasonable' reception but think it could be better from placing the aerial outside of the car - and indeed with a gound plane. Just means drilling a hole in the boot lid, but seeing as so many Tuscans have a DAB aerial in this position, I thought it not a problem....then I remembered how I have a beautifully fitted purple "TVR" emblazoned car cover.

Loved the stripes Pete - shame they had to go post-Le Mans.
