W762ULK at ACA auction this weekend

This looks like a temptingly cheap Tuscan at £8-10k guide price: I nearly clicked my mouse!

Shame about the sound it makes when rev'd from cold!
Or do they all sound like that?

Even at that price it needs a fair bit of work and if it is a engine rebuild 8k , interior looks s
te so reckon another 2k for seats, 200 quid for steering wheel retrim. Plus we do not know how it looks underneath , suddenly it’s not quite a bargain

It's in a local auction in the middle of Corona lockdown for a reason! It's a shed!
The last MOT expired 8 years ago. It has a high mileage for a car that has been off the road for so long. It's an first year of production car, with all the additional problems that they came with. The radio and pod seem to be missing. The interior is poor. The bonnet has a chunk missing from the leading edge. Wires are hanging down over the rear number plate. I won't say what that may or may not be.
The chassis could be pure rust! It probably needs everything doing, paint and a full interior re-trim and is it worth when finished? £20K? £21K?
There is a 2003 S for sale currently, with almost half the mileage, for £25K and no work to do.
Don't forget there is an 8% plus vat buyer's premium on the hammer price.

I wouldn't class it as a 'local' auction, it's one of the classic auctions whose data / sale results are included by Glenmarch (Bonhams, H+H, CCA, Historics, Barons, SWVA etc.)
I've bought a car there (although it was old and cheap) and enjoyed attending them in the past. Under present restrictions, only traders (i.e. Carrying out their profession) are allowed to view them up close, so I'm not sure I'd spend a great deal on photos, video and even walk-round voiced inspection myself.
I've never seen a Tuscan with the smaller wheels, they look smaller than 18", perhaps from the Tamora? It's common to fit the 18" Spiders to the Cerbera in place of the originals but I was under the impression all Tuscans came with them?
8% is some of the lowest buyer's premium anywhere (it was 6% until late 2019). Many places charge 10% or more (CCA for example now charge 11% + VAT, and H+H Classics charge 12.5% + VAT so basically 15% !)
There's an S1 with a guide of only £3k - £4k which looks OK, and a Chimaera too.
ETA: As of 09:30, the Tuscan has already had pre-auction online bids, now at £5k.

Thankfully not, sounds like one of those old wooden football clackers from the 60s plus an unknown chassis, tread carefully, a fool and his money etc

The 18 spiders were an option as my non RR W plate had them. There can't be many left with orange indicators.
The lack of radio pod explains some of the other bits, assuming it had the recall to move the door release. I'd guess the chassis around the exhaust manifolds may well be an issue as there was no heat shielding there on the early cars. At least it's got aircon.

Early Tuscans came with RL16” wheels with RL18” being the option although these were discontinued due to cracking problems, slightly later ones had 16” Spider wheels as standard with 18” being an option at £1000.
The door release buttons being moved to the radio pod was also later, but a lot of early cars had this retrofitted, but not necessarily a recall hence some not being done.
The car that’s for sale would need a lot of TLC and that engine sounds dreadful, at least a top end rebuild required and better change those Indian con rods while it’s apart.

You're very judgemental aren't you, Ms Lucy.
The buyer only bought it because they wanted it, and thought that was an acceptable price to pay for it.
Unless you have evidence otherwise, we must assume that no guns were held to any heads.
Congratulations, New Owner, hope you enjoy both driving it and fixing it up.

Sounds a lot of money to me, but if the owner was particularly wanting to buy a project car, which he/she can then finish to their own specification, then they’ve picked up a car here for £10k cheaper than anything on PH currently. I sincerely hope that is the case and the new owner doesn’t think it’s a cheap entry to TVR ownership. That engine sounds like it’s on its last knockings.
