Tuscan passenger window issues
Discussion
After seven weeks of inactivity (in a dry garage) I wanted to take the Tuscan out for a drive. It did start, albeit grudgingly. However, when wife closed her door the window didn't move up from its usual door-opened position. She tried to close it manually – which didn't work, then opened it all the way – which worked. So now it's fully open and refuses to budge.
I know about the encoder as I've had same-same-but-different issues earlier with the driver's door. That time the window refused to drop down, and removing/cleaning/drying the encoder did nothing. Swapping the ECUs did – suddenly both windows were working, and have been fine until now.
This time it seems to be something else, methinks. Using either of the passenger door opening buttons, it takes five-six seconds for the mechanism to react and pop open the door. But with the door open and pressing either of the buttons, the solenoid reacts immediately!?
Have tried disconnecting the main fuse which often seems to resolve electrical gremlins. Likewise locking and unlocking the car. Still nothing.
Grateful for any tips!

Hi there,
I had a similar issue a little while ago, window went down in stages but wouldn’t go up. That was fun as I was out in the rain at a Blackpool thunder meeting when it happened!
I ended up with the garage fitting a new encoder and it worked.
Also worth a try is taking the chrome door latch plate off and tinkering with the micro switch and see if you can get it to kick into life.
Best of luck
Andy

Id try again with the engine running, mine sometimes does this too with low voltage, which it sounds like you have. With engine running it works!
Loxk
Unlock
Start engine
Wait a few seconds and try again
GL!
My thoughts too, and we went halfway around KL to get the battery charged but to no avail. Will attempt again tomorrow, just in case.Loxk

Yes, I do have this nagging suspicion that I'll have to look at the switch. But yesterday, following an enforced two-week quarantine for having had the audacity to travel to Europe during the plague, all I wanted was a feel-good experience for me and my Tuscan, and perchance even my wife, to blast away seven weeks of cobwebs. Back in the garage I was not in the right frame of mind to take out the toolkit, the light, and the fan - and still get soaking wet in the heat...I had a similar issue a little while ago, window went down in stages but wouldn’t go up. Does anyone know if the micro switch has/may have any correlation to the door-latch solenoid, and its delayed action with the door closed?
