Ok I've finally had enough of the radio crackling and whistling and only being able to tune into my indicators. Can anyone recommend a good radio for the mark 1, I heard that a DAB would be the best route. How well do these work? any advice welcome

My car had a DAB fitted for the previous owner. It has a dedicated DAB tuner hidden away in the boot and an aerial cunningly mounted in one of the front wings. Reception is great when you get it, but it seems that the coverage can be improved upon as DAB gets more widely adopted. I wouldn't say it was quite CD quality sound, but still very good nevertheless. One aspect I do like is that so much text info is also broadcast to tell what frequency, station, programme, programme content etc is being received.

I am sure that the headunit I have, a JVC 1500 can do more than I use it for - its very sophisticated and alot more than I need (cannot really hear CD/radio in a Tuscan at speed without extra speakers, amplifier, and ears bleeding). I have a spare JVC DB1500 DAB tuner that will be going on Ebay very soon if anyone has a curent JVC system to which they wish to add DAB capability too - all together quite a nice piece of kit.

Thanks TUS 373 sounds a dam sight better than the current crackle I get. Only really want it for when I'm ground to a hault on the M25 the rest of the time I find my Carbon Cans play the best tracks!

If the DAB gets only 2 radio stations then that would be an improvement. I better start researching systems.

ps I wouldnt be offended if you emailed me some more details on the kit you are going to put on ebay

I think that radios & plastic cars just do not go.

Plug a decent set of CD's in and listen without any crackle.... only crank up the volume if you want to hear it
