a few simple questions that i would be greatfull for answers..
my existing car is due to be sold this week which will mean that i'm going to be on the hunt for a Tuscan.
I read most of the threads regarding the up's and down's etc so i hope that i'm going into this with my eyes open and have the funds incase of problems. I can afford to go for a newish S but am fussy on colour and trim etc so if i find exactly what i want from the car in 4.0 form i would like to know what if anything i might be loosing if that makes sense.
What i'm confused about is:
1.What is the difference in performance between a 4.0ltr and an S?
2. If there is a difference in performance, what has been done to the S?
3. Other then the brakes, suspension, front and rear spoilers and air con etc are there any other major differences?
4. Are there any day to day querks to owning a tuscan?
The car will be a second car but i want to use it more then my existing car. I would like to know of anything that while is not an issue is annoying etc?

How do you like your chilli. Hot or a little hotter? I think that is the case with the Tuscan v Tuscan S. Both are very quick cars compared to most things travelling on the Queen's highways. And with chillis, there are differences from car to car - and as with TVR, the claimed performance figures are open to some interpretation and variation.
When the Tuscan was launched, there was a 20 bhp gap between the 4.0 and the 4.0RR. Now, TVR have widened that gap in their marketing by having a 350 bhp 3.6 and the 400 bhp S. Whether that difference is as marked in reality, I think you would have to survey alot of cars and compare them on rolling roads. One thing that is held as being true though is that the Speed Six delivers bhp around that which TVR claim - something that cannot often be said of the Rover V8 or even the AJP.
My advice to compare the performance between a Tuscan and Tuscan S is go and drive some and have some fun doing it, then make your own mind up. What I can tell you is that I can probably motor from A to B as fast or even faster in my Saab 9-5 than the Tuscan, because put the two cars next to each other, the Saab is invisible. Mr Plod would much rather pay attention to the fast, flash, noisey beast of a car!

The Tuscan 4.0 was 360 bhp, the S 390 I believe. Now, as TUS 373 said it is 350/400.
I had a 4.0 Tuscan and now have a 3.6 Tuscan 2. The T2 feels no "slower" to me than the 4.0 (and actually makes more noise
).
As has been said, drive a few and see. I'm sure that there are variances from car to car.

thanks guys for the comments. I know that in whatever format i get the Tuscan is a very quick car. i test drove 3 last week and have to say that it's a fun car but you have to remember what your driving. However on the Queens highways you cannot really explore the car's limits etc hence my questions.

Buy a new one.
I have had 2 new ones and have never had any engine problems whatsoever. I know of a number of other people who have the same experience.
You get a 3 year warranty and the comfort of knowing that you have run the car in, you have warmed it up and you have maintained it properly.

Please dont take this the wrong way but i prefere the look of the tuscan compared to the tuscan 2. Each to their own. If TVR still made the shape of the tuscan then i think that would be the way i would go. I can afford a newish (03 max) tuscan with a safety net incase something goes wrong but to buy a new one would be a bit too much from a financial point of view. Also the colour i would love and really want is crystal topaz which i understand is now discontinued.
Ditto. If you can stretch to a new one you'll be far better off.

Apart from that, std Tuscan or Tuscan S ? Personally I'd go S if you can, as you'll probably at some point crave more power, and if you do it aftermarket the warranty will be invalid. Saying that 360bhp is plenty quick enough for 95% of time.

Remeber that if you buy an 03 it is out of warranty, and therefore to get a decent warranty that covers the engine is going to be circa £1500 a year(I seem to recall). Suddenly makes new cars look a bit more attractive.

either that or a silver or light blueish colour. again personnal choice just love light coloured cars especially the shape of the tuscan
nothing against darker or flip colours just personnal choice.

Not so Bas. Traded my 03 Tuscan for my 05 Tuscan. Depreciation was 6k pr annum.
