Is it possible to unscrew and remove the top portion of the dashboard at all? I would like to get to the area where screen meets dash to remove dust, grime and things that have more than 2 pairs of legs that have gone there and died in the very hot weather. I have tried other methods of trying to reach that area, but none is 100% successful - therefore considering this more altogether radical approach, if indeed it is possible?

I tend to use a flat paddle type thing with what looks like a scruffy dog on the end of it and this goes right down into where the screen meets the dash. I will see if there is a manufacturers mark on it when I get home and let you know. It really is good.
Prior to this I used a plastic spatula with a damp cloth pulled over the end and this was good too.

Di - will be thinking of you Sunday whilst we get stuck into the Pimms.
Has the butler been given time off for good behaviour or will he be cleaning and butlering on Sunday?

Thanks Di,

Yes, I have tried similar things including sliding a knife covered with fine cloth into that area etc. Its an awkward place to reach. My thinking was that if I can remove the dash top, I could give the dash and the screen the spring cleaning of a lifetime properly, then put it all back. Problem is, I doubt that anyone else has tried to do this. I don't even know if it is feasible. I take the view that mankind put the dash into the Tuscan, so mankind 'should' be able to remove it!

just smash the windscreen and claim on your insurance for a new one.

You can clean it before the new screen is fitted. I think you can do this twice a year on you car policy

I couldn't do that to my pride and joy! Why stop there, I could get a complete new car. (not serious in this suggestion should my insurers be lurking)

Hi Brent,
I am working Sunday so if the weather holds, no doubt my butler will be quaffing Stella at the R&C.

Bryan,
Aforementioned hairy thing is nothing more than a Pledge Duster. Believe me it does get to the bits where other hairy things dont reach. I am completely free of fag ash from the butler, as well as things with a multipal leg combination. Not worth wrecking the dash.

Well, the other thing that I didn't want to mention (being a TVR), was the excess of glue that appears to be smeared over the dash and visible through the windscreen from outside - only way to remove would mean dash off. However, I am not sure, but this would need to be reglued should the dash come out - thus making it a pointless exercise having to reglue it!?

I get my maid to get in there with her duster first.

Aaaaah you need a cotten bud and nail varnish remover, and no I am not joking, it really works. I, well Tony got rid of all the glue excess using this method on my 1st Tuscan. Try it.

Thanks for your spring cleaning but you missed a bit of glue by the rear window.
Can I bring it round for a bit of TLC or will it be a warranty claim??

Thanks Lee. Have you done this job yourself. Any downsides or difficulties I should know about first?
Thanks.
