Hell-fire. At 18, I was just buying an 850cc Mini on HP (forged my Mum's signature on the finance co. forms) and wondering how the hell I could afford the 3rd party insurance!!
Now this will really carbon date me - 4 gallons (18 litres in new money) of 4 star cost under 20 shillings (£1 in new money). Jeez...am I that old????
Mind you - next car was a real scorcher.

A 997cc Ford Anglia slant back rear window!!! Heater was an optional extra as was a heated rear window and screen washers! Car had none of them.
Cue Monty Python sketch..when I was a lad.... yawn yawn.
Oh well - off to bed . The London Pride was rather good tonight and the Tuscan is asleep in the garage waiting for the weekend.
Life ain't bad. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Someone in my family passed away when i was 16..

That person left a large inheritance in my name which i got when i turned 18 and i decided to spend some of it on a car as i needed one so i looked around and having the money available to afford a TVR, after seeing the Tuscan i fell in love and bought one, as for the insurance well it is a lot of money but i had looked into that before i bought the car making sure i could afford to insure it.

At the end of the day if you have the money to get something then why the hell not. The older you get the more you "do the sensible thing"
You know your going to get stung by insurance if your sub-30 on a group 20 car, so you just factor that into the overall price.

I did exactly this but took the BMW M3 route, the only mistake I made was getting married and then divorced - now I drive a Nissan Primera - whoopee. My kill stories have now depreciated down to Clio Diesels (

Out of interest, how much is your insurance and who is it with?

When I was about 20 and I got an E36 M3 ony about 3 insurers would insure under 25's. When I was 25 though my Tuscan insurance was about £1200.

If you look through my profile it does show the car cost(s) / insurance

I got a quote through confused.com which gave me over 10 insurance companys with different priced quotes i obviously chose the lowest price which was with www.quotea.co.uk

Originally i had got quotes of £10,000 - £18,000 but i had managed to get it down to £4,000
If you want me to explain how i got the insurance so low you can email me.

the 4 Motion is ok and i like it alot but its just not a TVR if that makes sense?,the R1 now that is astonishingly quick, ive had a bit of work done, 158 bhp on a 180kg bike well it doesnt take much working out lol, but in all honesty i would give up my car and bike tomorrow if it meant i could have a Tuscan-a Mk1 S in black is what i aim to have someday.
