Fancy having a bash at replacing my front
indicators this week and I know they are
bonded in but do they need whacking from
the front to push them inward or do you need
to whack em from the inside so they fall outward?
Also what sort of sealant to use to glue the new
ones back in place? Any advice or just plain old
speculation would be most welcome.

They need pushing from the front back into the wing. The glue used looks like some sort of epoxy resin. I had to glue one of mine back in and used araldite. It seems to have held ok so far.

Out of interest, I need to do the same job...so where did you get the replacements and how much were they?

Any tips following you doing the job would be good too....

Thanks.

Please be aware that there are 2 different front indicator lenses available - but both fit. Why? Once upon a time, TVR ran out of indicator lenses - so they substituted the reversing light lens.

When you see alot of Tuscans parked up together, take a close look. Some have regular indicator lenses, and some the same as those on the back!

According to TMS they were Griff reversing lenses that were used. A damn site cheaper then the proper clear Tuscan fronts too. (£10 vs £70 iirc)

Time for one of those annoyingly technical responses!

I think you'll find that the clear front indicators, and the reverse lights are quite different, and that the reverse lights certainly won't give out the same amount or spread of light. If I can be particularly anal, the front indicators should have a 1, 1a or 1b marking on them, whereas the reverse should have an AR marking. All this is pretty useless info though, as both lenses will probably fit the bodywork, and no policeman is likely to nick you for fitting the wrong one.

Hope I haven't bored you to death!

Seeing as Griff's use an upside-down Vauxhall Cavalier all-in-one rear lamp cluster that's obviously wrong! Better not trust everything TMS tell you in future Rich...

That's a very good point - I'd never really thought about it before. Maybe that's why TMS never actually sent me them when I made an order and I ended up getting them done at the factory instead.

Well after beating the old ones out with a
rubber mallet I then dicovered that the replacement
clear items that have been in the boot since I
bought the car nearly two years ago where indeed
the wrong type and didn't fit at all. I rushed
down to Gorner's who thought the ones I had were
for a Chim and ordered some Tuscan ones. I then
had to reseal the originals back in at great cost
to the skin on the back of my hands. Why didn't
they just fit lamps that had a lense that could
be unsrewed from the front to make changing a bulb a 30 sec job instead of a half hour bonnet off jobby?
Just hope the dont fall out on the road Tomorrow.
