Diagnostic Software for TVR Tuscan
Discussion
What type of ECU is in the Tuscan??? I am sure there must be other diagnostic software packages that would be able to interogate the ECU infomation stored? I have seen many garages high performance and others that have many different diagnostic packages; I assume that you cannot buy this software from TVR so looking for possible alternatives and more comprehensive packages if available.

TVR don't sell the software, although there are some older version floating about. Not sure if other packages can interogate the ECU, but I do know that it has a specific connector.
These guys may be able to help you out.....I was going to pursue this route, until my car took an extended vacation to salisbury. When I get it back and save a few more pennies I may take up the challange again. Some very useful info can be gleaned from hooking up to the engine sensors.
If you get a result please let me know...

2 messges: one to yzf1070 - your car is in very good hands down at Autocraft, they are an absolutely fantastic group and highly professional and I take our Tuscan and GT40 replica down there, always happy (have seen the Tuscan S down there - nice car by the way!)
With regards to the software, I should not imagine it would take much in the way of writing something to interogate the data in the ECU; I would need to know what type of ECU it is and any information about the data structure etc and I could either write somethign myself or get someone else to do it.

The main reason for the ECU comment is that it really means it is a pain in the backside if you want to move out of the country as I see it as a simple way of reducing the troubleshooting time at the garage. All help about this is much appreciated if anyone can shine a light on it (I know a mechanic who has a multitude of different connections for ECUs of all different types of cars and they all plug into the parallel port of a PC)
Thanks for the reassurance Bert. I know what they are up against so didn't want to pressure them. I just want it sorted best way possible. I do concur with your comments on their overall approach and attitude, that alone was comforting enough to leave the car with them.
However....Data logging the engine sensors, I agree should be a fairly simple exercise especially if TVR have used the standard OBD2 protocols ISO, VPW, PWM or KWP 2000. I didn't get round to looking underneath my dash for a connector, have you identified one as yet? I seriously doubt TVR will have fitted the standard 16 pin Euro DLC. Once the connector has been identified finding out the pos and neg terminals should be straight forward, having done that with the use of a scope a trained tech should be able to id the numerous sensor signals. I am no expert in this field by any means but it should be accademic to the likes of GEM. For my purposes I am most interested in 02 sensors, Engine Knock, Air flow (intake), RPM, injector pulse width and timing angle.

If you look under the steering wheel there is a connector that does not appear to be plugged in to anything. Of course, first reaction was 'some dick head has not attached something properly' but then I thought it did look like a connector that could be used to dump information out of the EFI system. After a brief conversation with a factory person, they gave the idea that the whole system was not as sophisticated as it made out i.e. it only records certain information - I am guessing it has a range of fault codes (hence the EFI fault that comes up on the pod along with others and if someone has a list then that would be helpful) and also a list of variables off specific sensors but I dont think it records the variables over a period of time etc just high/low values etc (in the same way that it records the highest speed ect you can look at - I would not be surpirsed if all there is available is what you can access through the pod lcd screen but extended). I was also told that the information may not be available on some cars, it depended if they remembered to reset the data at the factory before they shipped the car - allegedly as I have no concrete evidence to back this up of course........
I had the software for reading the S8 cerb ecu (MBE) on the disk it also had the S6 version. Worth a try? I know the cerb has a standard RS232 connector but not sure on the Tusc.
I have it on my old laptop, I will have a look later (gave the original to the new owner when I sold her)
