"RR or Tuscan S"
Discussion
hi,
I believe that the S superceded the RR. So obviously the RR will be older unless ther is a few cars which have had their standard Tuscan engine 'Red Rosed'. Depending on the time it was done the spec was an extra 20 or 30 hp.
Coming from an M3 with similar power, believe me the standard Tuscan is a *whole* new kettle of fish. To be honest I have never driven the RR but the standard Tuscan was plenty enough umph for me. Only other benefit I would recommend was the upgraded suspension or even better Nitron suspension, as the standard spec wasnt a great setup and was a bit hard and not very compliant to roads which were not dead flat.
In saying that though on paper the S is true supercar performance, so for that at least its worth the test drive to check the difference

The Red Rose was about a 4K option but doesn't seem to be reflected in used prices which is good from a buying point of view. Mine was RR spec and very quick. Visually it's only the two spoilers that tell them apart but I would wholley recommend retro fitting the front lip spoiler as this makes the car so much more stable at speed. On speaking to people at places like Fernhursts they said that some of the engine components were of a higher spec than non RR engines. Not sure if it made much much of a difference, mine still had an engine rebuild at about 2K...
Anyway, if you can have the extra 30bhp for the same money then why not

Red Rose:
- 380BHP originally (figure goes up over time - my last rebuild had it starting with a 4
)
- Height adjustable dampers (which ended up being fitted to most cars)
- Uprated brakes
- DAB? (not sure on this one)
Tuscan S:
- 390BHP (and rising, no doubt)
- Height adjustable dampers
- Uprated brakes
- DAB
- Air con
- Boot coloured carpet
- Front lip spoiler
- Rear spoiler
- Slightly wider exhaust pipes
- Close ratio gearbox
- Think the S got wider front tyres - 255s rather than 225s?
Think that's it.
Hope that helps...
