Discussion
Following on from "ntel's" thread re his new toy, many congrats by the way, lovely colour. Most people, and I concur, suggest having the air con option. Does anyone else with the new Tuscan suffer the same gremlins as me? On occasion the system works very well, then next time I will have cold air from the passenger vent but warm on the drivers side.
On the next journey there may be no air con at all, other than cool air coming from the vent directly in front of the driver. Each time I think I should get it looked at it starts working fine again. Very frustrating.
Presumably during operation, vents must open and close to allow the cooler air through the system. Is it just a case of an occasional sticking vent or does anyone have any other ideas, or indeed suffer the same problem?
Thanks
Di

Hi Lady T,
I too have the same problem and have had lengthy discussions with my dealer about it. I wont go into too much detail (as I can't remember it all) The reason you get warm air from the right vent and cold through the left is due to how the air gets into the dash area. There are two big pipes that enter the dash, which is hollow. These pipes have little gates on them and sometimes they can stick. this then directs the warm air towards the right hand side of the dash, and allows the colder air to exit almost straight forward through the left vent. My dealer suggested a "gentle" tap on the left hand part of the dash sometimes unsticks the vent... there was also some chat about the venturi effect... but I had switched off by then... but I think the bottom line is that due to the simplicity of design... (big open area behind dash) you will get variations in air flow and as a result an uneven distribution of hot and cold air

Yep, they all.....
You have a sticky heater flap (try turning it onto full heat and then full cold to unstick it - I used to hear a click when it worked - although mine seems to now work fine all the time).
But you'll find the air coming through the driver's side is warmer than the passenger side because of the heat soak. Try closing the windscreen and footwell vents on the passenger side, and open the vents on the driver's side. This gets enough air flow through to cool the driver's side. The air from the face vent is always cold of course. I find it much colder when the car gets moving (towards icy!).
Cheers,
Andy.

Thanks christiaan, good old technical advice,"give dash a slap!!!".
Dont you just love TVR
Lady Di,
See, a TVR Tuscan is really a SHE
Hot/cold/hot and then for no reason at all cold again.
Working/not working
..../.....
She must have an irregular cycles
Personally I did not have any problems concerning the A/C.
May-be its different in a left hand drive car or with an old style dash, hmm LD
Or may-be I know the right combinations of the buttons !!!
Better stop now
Koen
