fuel tank

Hello everyone,again,I've got a problem with fixing 2 6x9's in the back of the car,because we have the fuel tank right behind it,but the problem is the fuel tank shouldn't be a problem meaning there should be enough room but there are two metal straps in the way which seem to be holding the tank in place,so I undid the straps and the tank was still sturdy so are the straps to hold the tank in place or can I do away with them,or are they important.

Bloody hell, sounds dodgy. Suggest you check "powerlords" reply on speakers upgrade,needs 4 thread. Blaupunkt do a very light very shallow 200w speaker. May miss straps?

Hi Greg,
you need a separate shelf in the back. If your coming at the w/e you can have a look at mine, easier than trying to explain it over the mail. How's your DIY.

Can't make weekend because of work but hope you all have a good time.As regards to my diy,not to bad as it is building work that I do,BUT I have already put the speakers in and shifted the straps slightly to the sides and have now got to refix them just slightly off set,didn't seem to be doing alot when loosened them up so not too much damage caused I hope

Thanks R666 but that looks a bit flash for me although looks very nice,and just this last couple of hours finished hoovering up the crap and mess from my modest upgraded version,doesn't look as good as yours but bloody hell does it sound better than it did

On another note I'm trying to add pics but for the life of me can't work it out, I've downloaded from my camera and saved them to my pictures but I can't seem to be able to add them to my posts,any help.

I was "inspired" by Colin's Speaker box and made my own.
Col's:


I believe Colin's was made from wood and then covered in stiched leather (with a snazzy silver air freshner on top!)

I used larger (6.5" ) speakers in the back, made my enclosure from fibreglass and then had leather stretched to meet the form. I put 4" mid-range speakers in place of the standard pioneers (needed a little trimming), and tweeters up front on the parcel shelf. I think my speaker package is a Focal 165W3.

The sound is very good, but the stereo imagery is poor. Unless you mount speakers in the doors, I think the stereo imagery will always be poor in a Tuscan.

I like it,the subwoofer's in mine are also
Focal as they have a large amount of bass
for their size. I too found the stereo effect
quite poor but compensated a bit by adding a 400
watt amp and adjusting the bias to the left.
Sounds plop from the passenger seat but hey I'm
the one driving

This is about as far as my speaker upgrading goes,but does sound a hell of alot better.
