On the way to sunny Dorset, from Essex, caught on the M25, worst storm I have been in for a while, wipers decide to give up. Left hand one stuck upright, right hand one comes back and hits L/H on that then also stops. Fortunatly I use rainx so could still drive (great stuff).

On inspection both wipers move freely and independent, it does not appear to be the splins but something inside that has sheared or the like.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
Roy.

This sounds like what happened to mine last year. The wipers have sheared off the rotor arm or the nut has come off the rotor arm. Does the motor whirr without the wipers sounding? Mine was a £15 fix. Good Luck.

Lots of whiring, how do you get access to the mechanisum to fix, is it a do it yourself job?

Thanks for the help.

It's a bit of a pain to get to. When you take the bonnet off (Be careful there) then it is underneath the GRP shroud under the windscreen (The bit that is still there after you take the bonnet off). It's pretty tricky, that's why I left it to the dealer, but then I am not mechanical minded really. Good Luck..

Alternatively, the two wiper arms are connected together by a long tube thing, which keeps them synchronised. The connector may have simply come out of one end of the tube, which is what happened to me. It's a fiddly job to get it back in, but it took all of ten minutes to fix.
