Hello chaps!

Just a quickie - just before taking my Grandmather out for a run, (no - really) I noticed a puddle of fuel coming from what looks like an overflow near the front off-side wheel.

Any ideas?

Should I be concerned?!?!?!

Is it terminal???????

For reasons best known to those who reside in Blackpool, the fuel overflow and carbon filter is located in the area you described.... Question.... have you recently filled the car up and left it in the sun... If so, I think it is safe to say, don't worry and enjoy the drive

That will be coming out of the carbon canister which is connected to the fuel tank overflow. This can happed if you have just filled up & then left the car out in the sun as the petrol will expand and flow into the carbon canister which then dumps the execss on the floor.

If it really is fuel, then yes.

Probably not, as long as it doesn't catch fire.

Just one common sense rule, whether it's fuel on the floor, or even a smell of fuel....

Investigate the source of the leak or smell before starting the car, and especially before considering driving anywhere. The consequences of a fuel leak igniting surely don't need spelling out!

If it's not the carbon can scenario described by others it could be a nice high pressure leak, ready to cause a fireball! Heck even if it is the carbon can and there's enough fuel puddled somewhere under bonnet you could still be having a bit of a bonfire!
