I've recently replaced my cracked plastic air box for a nice ACT carbon fibre one, not for the bling but because mine had been reglued together too many times. I thought about buying a second hand plastic one but couldn't face paying hundreds for another wibbly wobbly piece of plastic.

So, I took the plunge and bought a carbon fibre one. Really good quality and great after sales help from Tim when I needed the locations of the catches adjusting. I had to drill my own holes for the brackets but no big deal.

The question is, do other people find the installation and removal of the top air box more cumbersome than the original? Especially with the 6 silicone hoses now, I find I have to remove the scuttle and wiper mechanism to comfortably fit and remove.

Also, do people bother with the jubilee clips on the throttle bodies? My hoses fit really snuggly at the moment and perhaps these slacken off with time, I don't know but it is no longer a 5 min job to remove the top air box now.

Don't get me wrong, I really love this air box and glad there are no more question marks of the use of lots of epoxy glue holding the original together.

I had one on my Tuscan when I bought it . The original was in several pieces with the car also .
It was a total pain to remove every time ,as you say removing the scuttle to do it .
I eventually rebuilt the original with some industrial epoxy and a few aluminium pieces to hold it together. I then went back to the original.
I sold the ACT one and eventually sold the car after a few years ownership.

The original ACT one I purchased doesn't have silicon tubes but carbon fibre ports , also ordered it with internal trumpets.
If I remember correctly I also drilled a hole in the bottom to avoid a hydraulic lock if the hedgehog trap was to suck water up if I went through water (as per the original). I also got rid of the tiny pop rivets on the clips and replaced with small stainless nuts and bolts (loctited) . In case any broke and got sucked in.
Don't have any problem removing the top, certainly don't have to remove the scuttle tray on a Tuscan Convertible,

I've got vague recollections of their being a problem approx 18 years ago with the shaping at the rear of the box .... and there were two versions... ask Tim he may remember.
