Okay this is an incredibly basic question, but what's the kind of top revs you guys reach?

I drive a Tuscan 2, have gently bedded in the engine and now have around 5500 miles on the clock.

However I rarely go over 4500 revs before the big baboon's ass dash lights up red.

I know this can be changed in the menu setup - what kind of max revs do you guys normally reach during hard acceleration? What's a safe "max revs"?

Appreciate this is a beginner question but would value your feedback,

R

I have done about 4600 miles and have been taking it upt to 6000rpm for the last 600 of those. I am back at the dealer tomorrow and one of my questions will be... how much more!

If it's the 4 litre then I would not exceede 7000 rpm (max) as the engine designer suggested that conrod no 6 could break at this speed (with TVR's design)..

If I'd known that I'd have short changed before the big red change up came on at around 7-7.5k at Prescott! - not gone pop yet though! (fingers et al extremely crossed!)

It's the standard Tuscan - 3.6liter I believe, not the Tuscan S.

Do you guys tend to change your baboon's ass red setting? Bloody infuriating thing when trying to concentrate on a quick acceleration

I would still change at 7 max..

I just prefer not to need a rebuild. High rpm always brings more engine wear.. just got my sensible hat on today : I actually change up at 6 when on one.. just save 7k for those moments when along side something really quick. Like another TVR on a bypass

On my Mk1 i have the 'baboons ass' set for 6000 in 1st and 6500 for the rest.

I often bottle out at around 5500 depending on who i am trying to impress/catch/runaway from at the time!
