Has anyone on here ever sufferred from a speedo failure on a MK1. On a lovely sunny afternoon driving up the M5 in Somerset my gaze was drawn to an oscillating needle jumping between 0 and 200, a remarkable situation, 0-200 in milliseconds.

I presume there is a pickup under the bonnet or off the rear axle, any clues would be appreciated, just need to see if their is a dodgy connection or an earth problem.

Thanks for any advise in advance.

Common problem with Tuscans. It is the speed sensor that is causing the problem, it is located on the rear axle and apparently can be cleaned. However I have had this a couple of times with mine and it has needed replacing.

Apparently TVR have modified this part so it doesn't fail as often, I have had no problems since it was last replaced 6 months ago.

Transducer. Known problem. they are on about MK 5 so far. Costs about £70 if you have to pay for it. My first Tuscan had 3.

My speedo stuck at 101 a few years ago on Tuscan no:1. Mind you I had just gone thru a hedge and was impalled on a conifer at the time!

Sounds more like Room 101 than Speed 101

This is sometimes due to the plastic of the display having been pushed back a touch causing the needle to stick. I have no idea how to fix it though

My Tuscan S has the same. Started intermittently with the needle showing 0 , then 10 to 20 mph more than the lcd readout. Then they both started doing it. The needle also stuck occasionally. Fernies replaced the speedo "transducer" (i think thats what it was called!) behind the fuel tank and has been fine ever since. Part was £80 then labour ontop.

I had three or four replacement sensors on my mk1 S. Did I pay for them? No. If the part is faulty why should you?. No problems on my mk2 s after 6800 miles.
