This could well be a paranoia thread, but since I've had the Tuscan (2000 model) serviced, I can smell oil, and hot oil at that.

I've run plenty of miles, checked the levels, using the normal amount etc. But occasionally in traffic a bit of what seems like burning oil smoke comes out from the vent at the bonnet near the windscreen.

My thinking is that I've got some form of top end or ancillory leak which is dripping onto the exhaust.

Pressures are fine, although I had the sender unit replaced at its last service.

I'm going to take the bonnet off on Saturday to have a gander, but any ideas on what you think it could be would be very welcome!

Cheers all

Yep had the same problem after a service by Offal Motor co (you get what you pay for )It will probabilly be oil dripping on to the exhaust from the main rocker cover, it is held on with mastic/sealant, most likely area will be number six cylinder right at the back near the bulkhead, well it was with mine the oil dripped on to the manifold and causes great puffs of smoke from under the bonnet,a little bit worrying when sat in traffic on the M25 on the way back from them!! To fix clean off all the oil from around the edges and spread lots of sealant around the rocker cover.Sorted
Good luck

Mine started a leak from the front just after a service which turned out to be the oil pressure sensor mounting which had broken. The oil pressure sensor itself was fine but oil was pi$$ing out at the front of the engine.

Ahhaaa! Cheers fellas - good to know I'm not alone one this one

I'll whip the bonnet off later and have a look, I'm guessing not too difficult if it just needs tightening and re-sealing

Cheers for your help

Be worth checking the oil tank isnt chafing on the oil cooler pipes while your poking around in there. Mine had worn about 1/2 way through the tank when i spotted it, not sure what the oil would seep onto from there tho, probably nothing very hot but worth a check.

Wierd - thought I posted here yesterday, but it hasn't appeared!

All fixed, slight weep at the back of the rocker box, near cylinder number six.

Cleaned up and applied with gasket resin

Checked the pipes on the oil tank, seem to be ok but thanks for the heads up

Cheers for your help all

Glad you are all sorted, this is what the forum is all about helping others, unfortunatly there is too much drivel posted lately, you only have to look at the number of decent posts, sometimes half a dozen a day
