Hi Guys,

Just recently the cars started to stutter and jump when you apply full throttle, also the car stalls when you first start her from cold. It runs ok when your just cruising around. I've noticed that the right hand rear silencer has abnoramlly large amounts of soot on it too, far more than the left. I took the front 3 plugs out(closest to front of car), and they were covered in black soot. And rear three were clean. Replaced the plugs with new and it ran fine for a couple of hours then the problem returned. Any Ideas welcome? I was perhaps thinking Lambda sensor???

Sounds reasonable, but don't rule out the coil / leads either. Get it to a dealer before you ruin your catalyst!

Mine needed a new lamba sensor, and had similar problems. If you get one done, for the extra £50 or whatever it it I would get the other done, as well as it died within a few weeks of my first!

The other thing I have heard is as the previous poster has said is by replacing the leads. I have a feeling I have heard that this is one thing which has inproved greatly from the earlier cars to the newer ones, and when they were changed the car was transformed.

Cheers for your thoughts guys, will look into the Lambda replacement. Don't think it could be the leads cos i've only just replaced those with new Magnecor leads. Does anyone know of where's the best place to get hold of a Lambda sensor? I've tried TVR gear and they wanted 130odd. seemed a little expensive to me??

The sensors retail for around £75-£80, I've seen 'generic' sensors advertised for about half that but I guess there would be a bit more mucking about to wire them up. If you Google for JustLambda or LambdaDirect you should find a couple of suppliers.

Cheers for that Peter, just ordered a new Lambda from CATS direct(lambda direct), there selling them for £67 all in including postage. Haven't fitted it yet so not sure if it will solve the original problem. We'll see.
