tuscan track day silencers
Discussion
am taking my tuscan to bedford next month and due to having the rear cans sleeved i know from experience at bedford that it's not going to pass the static or drive by's.
as i'm still a newbie to tvr what companies exist that can supply or rent silencers for a tuscan and also a t350 exhaust please?
also any other comments on tuscan's at track days would be helpfull.
thanks
Rick

I've been in the same situation for almost 3 years with a 2000x reg tuscan with sleeved cans. Have had to stick to 'loud' days i.e. goodwood (105dB) and snetterton (unlimitited dB!!!!) as have not been able to source a set of spare standard tuscan cans. One set I nearly bought second hand were from a tuscan S which would not have fitted properly (larger diameter apparently).
I've been too stingy to just buy a new second hand set of cans. I did almost buy some quiet cans from ACT, but couldn't justify the £300 back then and also the hassle of changing them at the trackside.
Anyhow, you can't fit on silencing thingies on the tuscan, so my suggestion is either:
1) like me stick to noisy days
2) shell out for some new standard cans (preferably new (they will 98 dB)) as old ones may get progressively louder
3) unsleave your cans if they haven't been sleeved for too long and rusted in like mine and get it noise tested

Bedford on the 3rd Dec by any chance?
If so I'll see you there
I've got a pair of track day silencers from Tim at ACT(07903-585048), cost me all in £200.
They don't look as good as normal, but I only put them on for the event. Easy to fit/remove and you should be down to 94db on static.
I haven't tested them on drive by noise yet, I may have to lift off as at the last track day I was at (motorsport events) the Tuscan driveby noise was still one of the loudest
Cheers

Rich,
Do your silencers bolt on to the rear cans or are they the squared-off (flat ended) wide diameter quiet rear cans which you swap for normal cans when you track your car. - £200 seems like a good price if they're the ones I'm thinking of. My problem is that my rear cans are well and truly rusted / sealed onto the car, and I cannot for the life of me get them off, despite even trying a blow torch at quikfit.
Let me know either way,
Simon
PS will probably be at Brands Hatch tommorow weather pending

Yep - they're the ones, they just replace the rear cans for track days.
Have you tried taking it to a garage or quick fit type place. They can normally get them off for a few quid?
Good luck!

Thanks rich,
Already tried at quikfit (see previous thread). Didn't make it to brands though as my gearbox blew up on the way there - arse - $$$$$$$$$$$$........
Gutted for ya fella
On a another note, your car is nearly identical to mine! Good choice!
Good luck with a new 'box!

If it's any use to anyone, I've got a pair of standard (quiet) cans kicking about still from when I switched to CCC ones. Was thinking of sticking them on EBay at about £50 or so, anyway, and can deliver to BT&P...
