WTB The best Tuscan for UK30/k

If I hadn''t broken my ankle last week I would have been on my way to UK to look at buying a Tuscan. Its almost been a blessing in that I have had time to fart around digging up all the postings and info I can. At least now, I am becoming more aware of what to look for, yes the buy is definately on. It may be being bloody cheeky but I have opted for a price limit of UK30/k to find the best Tuscan I can. I''ve got info on a few that are close and am interested in finding out as much as I can before making the final decision. On the list of wants in order of priority are; Warranty, Air con and 18" wheels, desired would be full leather int. My plan is to do a tour through Europe, back to UK for service and then head home via USA. Being from New Zealand will help getting through the customs issues I hope. I have already talked to Faisal in US about it (he''s trying to convince me on Cerbies). Seems a bit strange doing all the left hand countries in a right hooker but the ultimate goal is to take her home. given that its more than 5k miles back to NZ, then I think you might be having to ship it back to blackpool at least once for an engine! (Judging by the hammering the S6 engine has got here of late...) Sounds like fun though all that holiday..

Before you go and buy a car I'd check whether you'll be allowed to bring it back into NZ. The last I heard the dealership in Auckland were having no luck getting the car in due to the lack of recognised type-approval (something to do with the limited number of cars built to date). They had similar problems bringing in the only Cerbera in the country although they managed to con the powers that be into thinking it was a hard-top Chimaera! I would be very concerned about servicing and looking after the engine though. TVR still won't let dealers fix dodgy engines and it sounds like there are a fair number of cars out there that haven't had the finger followers and cylinder head modifications done. 30k is the bottom line for a Tuscan and you're unlikely to find one built to a top spec' with all the upgrades in a desireable colour with low mileage. Perhaps you should talk to the factory about the situation here regarding warranty on engines and who can look after the car. You may seriously have to think about flying over an engineer from the UK once a year to perform a service on the car. Good luck.

update So far so good (for me) in the hunt for the amazing car at an amazing price. There are now a few advertising at sub UK30/k (just). Autotrader.co.uk Condition is to be determined but as the engine has 2 years warranty at least any issues can be sorted. None have aircon and all half hide but the 18" wheels are turning up. Mix of miles between 3000 - 7000. Andrew White, thanks for your email, I tried to reply but it bounced on your address twice for some reason. I will be looking into getting the car home well before attempting it. I am quite happy to leave it in UK for a while anyway to make sure it is all sorted. I travel a fair bit so off road repair periods is not so much of an issue as long as it fits in. All this talk on speed cameras is a worry so am thinking about some accessories as well which is altering my budget
