Engine nearly gone again!!
Discussion
I am not a particularly happy bunny at the moment…what with… well I am really sorry to say but its with TVR Blackpool. This is why.
I bought my Tuscan in May with 18k on the clock. Part of the deal was for it to have the service prior to collection. While there it was found to have the faulty finger followers so it had to go back to blackpool for an engine rebuild. I didn’t mind this as I thought that the engine would be as good as new when I got it back!!
This was my first TVR experience (apart from the ride in my mates dad’s Griff 500 when I was 16

Well over the past couple of weeks I thought the engine was developing a ticking noise ( I thought it may be paranoia) but I thought it best to get it checked, so yesterday it went back to the dealer and today they had a look at it, go on guess.. there was another faulty shim

Whats my point…. Well considering the perception the public have about TVR and their lack of reliability, I feel that TVR should take a little more care with rebuilds etc. By that I mean when my car went for its rebuild TVR knew all to well that the shims originally fitted were made too soft and hence were replaced but it seems to me that either the new replacement shims were thrown in with the old and still being used, or when the car went for the rebuild all they did was replace the faulty shim and left the others in there….. Am I right in thinking that????
Don’t get me wrong I love the cars

The service i have had off my dealer has been great and cant fault him at all, my concerns lie with Blackpool and the way they do things. I am a first time TVR owner and this kind of experience puts people off. I am young and could see myself buying a couple of TVR's in my time but not if they keep doing things like this....

Lagoo, my sympathies to you.
I fully understand the frustration.
My tuscan (sold a year ago now) was nothing but trouble, with not only an engine rebuld, but the bloody thing caught fire too.
I think the S6 engine is the worst thing TVR have ever developed/produced. They should have stuck with the AJP8 and developed it a bit more.
Many dealers have given up with the factory due to these problems and some (allegedly) never receive all the money back for their warranty work. Takes the pi** really.
Good luck.
