Need to sell. This is not an ad!
Discussion
Having gone self-employed, I can't justify having a Tuscan S sat in the garage 95% of the time. Trouble is, the offers I'm getting as a trade in are, frankly, insulting!!
I'm probably being unrealistic to some extent, but whats the general opinion on the "value" of a 2002 Tuscan S, which has had a new engine fitted 5000 miles ago?
As the title says, this ain't an ad, but if the figures you give are similar to what I'm being offered (£21,000) then I guess I'll cut my losses and take it...
Thanks a lot.

When I was selling my 2000 Tuscan just under a year ago, I was being offered by the trade anything between 12 and 17 grand.
Their argument is unless it is literally fresh out of the (rebuild) factory with a factory warranty, they could be hit with a bill for £5000 to warranty the car. They also have a point in that they would be looking to make £4000 or so on a sale.
If you can wait, no doubt you can get a better price on private sale, you may have to wait around for the money though.
I ended up taking just under £18k for my Tusc. At the time they were being advertised at £23-24K in the dealers and a couple of grand lesson private sale. I sold it to an independant dealer who had it for about nine months before it was sold. In the end even on ebay he couldnt get more than what I sold it to him for despite him spending over a grand on new wheels and tarting it up.
The problem is is that if you may have been expecting say £28k for the car, you can now for ten grand more get a brand new Tuscan 2 with a three year warranty. For an independant dealer to sell your Tuscan it needs to be sold considerably lower than a new car, they have to work some cost into it to mitigat warranty cost and have to make some money, as for them it is a risky car to sell.
