What's the verdict - it seems to be a free option with my new Tuscan - should I or shouldn't I? It looks a bit naff, but I guess it's worth it in the long run... Are there any alternatives to armourfend that don't leave silly lines across the front of the car?
there is another company that does the same, but its still around £500-600 for the front end to be done.
Had 3 TVR with a/fend on, and must say Im a big fan, as long at its not on flip flop type paint, or pearl/cascade paint, where it does notice more. Personal choice really, but I'd have it.

Rejn,
The only product that TVR recommends and fits is from Paintshield. This film comes with a 4 year paint protection warranty. It is applied at the factory.
Unfortunately, there is no film that will not leave a fine line across the paintwork. We have a 2000 TVR Tuscan and that has Paintshield film on it. As it is yellow, the line doesnt show unless you look real close.
At the end of the day it is your decision. You need to weigh up the cost of a respray if you hate stone chips maybe every two years or go for the film and not worry at all about stone chips.
If you want to, leave the film off for a while then if you decide to go for it, contact Paintshield direct and have one of their fitters install it for you afterwards. Where abouts are you?
Hope this helps.

I know its a long shot, but your Tuscan reg doesnt end in UFM does it?
The product that TVR is offering on there cars now is not Armourfend, it's Paintshield. They picked up the contract a year or so ago. It is retrofittable, subject to the paint being worthy of the invetsment in the protection.
I had a full kit retro fitted on my Tam last year, was the first MKII to be done, had to go to their head office in Grantham for them to cut the pattern. Great job can hardly see it, clour is Formula red pearl, and the front end till look s like new, well worth the investment IMO.

i think if you have a dark colour it is a god send as the stone chips really show up,a light colour like silver or crystal topas then i would not bother.
Thanks Tovie - hadn't thought about the colour - since I'm going for dark blue, it's starting to seem like a good idea (esp. as a front-end respray sounds like no change from 4 figures).

Thanks guys - sorry - I didn't realise it wasn't Armourfend (which I have on my Elise) - but Paintshield sounds good.

dark colour then definately paint shield if you can cope with the line.
maybe a good idea to have a look at one that has it fitted just to make sure you like it.
good luck.
Guys,
We have fitted Paintshield to quite a few cars. We have just finished a dark blue Audi A4 and the only line that can be seen is across the bonnet. This is really only noticable if you know where it is and are looking for it.Similarly with a VX 220 in silver that we did recently.
Most bumper kits have been designed to finish on the 'natural' bodylines of the car hence no visible line. You have a choice as to which kit sections to fit, that is why they are priced seperately.
At the end of the day, as the owner, you have to evaluate whether you can live with a faint line or stone chips?
The film needs to be washed and waxed the same as the rest of the car and the added bonus is the paintwork under the film will always stay shiney whilst the film is on.
As I said, you pays your money and takes your choice.
I have fitted it personally to my black Harley truck before taking on the business as I don't want to have to repaint the front of the truck every year.
Hope this helps.
