Had the same problem with mine when I first got it.
Yes you can adjust the pin travel by adjusting the bowden cables on the end of the levers in the boot with an 8mm spanner. Also the sockets on the roof section are adjustable. You can slide them fore and aft. This may give enough adjustment to clear the pins.
However in my case neither offerred enough adjustment. With another person helping, a bit of gentle twisting and careful use of a screw driver to push the pin back we got the roof off. I dismantled the levers and redrilled the connecting hole in the L shaped brackets on the end of the levers. This effectively shortened the fulcrum and gave more travel to the pins.
Make sure the roof section sockets are well greased when your finished.
