I bet this has come up before, sorry but...As the subject suggests? I find this is the main thing I dislike about my Tus'
Is there a way to soften it as I find it a real pain when i go over the slightest bumps and it goes right thru me...and the car! I have 18" wheels

Put sensible wheels on it? Or take it to a suspension specialist such as Track Car Solutions and get them to fit a really good spring/damper solution and see if that helps. But taking the rubber band tyres off and putting sensible wheels back on would be a far better bet IMO.

If you are on your orignal suspension there is only height adjustment & on a 2001 car they would be well past their best.I can recomend a Nitron setup with 22 way adjustable damping, along with a geometry set up it will be like a different car.

Paul..you should have mentioned it when i was crawling under your car, earlier on
You might have adjustable spring platforms at least, i could have checked what setting they where on, if you ride is that firm they might be wound up?

That only affects ride height, not stiffness. Nitrons would be a good although expensive solution. Remember that the car was designed around the lovely but no-one-wants-to-buy-them-even-at-almost-give-away-prices-16"-Spiders; as Peter mentioned, cheap and best soln., unless you like the 18" look, lol.

Peter always gives gerat advice .. I much prefer the feel of the TVR cars on 16s .. the 18s just look so damn fine though!

Mark Hales once suggested that no-one would have 18s if TVR didn't offer them, so in that respect TVR were their own worst enemy on the ride/handling compromise situation .. I like Mark Hales .. always sees the full picture

If you want total control over the feel of your car you need to go to double adjust dampers as then you can separate the actions of the wheel going up and down on bumps .. the more DAdjust kits I fit the more i push people that route if they have peculiarities to address .. after all if you then can't get the compromise you're looking for it's probably not achievable!

Have you had these fitted on your Tusc? Is so, who fitted them for you and what was the rough cost?

Trackcar (Joolz) fitted Nitrons to mine, +/- 1400 quid all in IIRC.

Makes a massive difference. Give him a call & discuss your requirements.

I'll third the vote for Nitrons. I've had them on my 2000 Tuscan for about 2 years now and they made an unbelievable difference to the handling. The original soft springs/hard dampers were awful on my car. I paid about a grand for the kit and fitted them myself. Nitron's customer service is pretty good too.

Were your cars like, how I describe mine is now, before you had it done?
....Does that make sense!!??....before you got your suspension upgraded was it really bad on bumps and stuff on public roads, and is that the main reason why you got it done?

Mine ('02 S), was to my mind over sprung & underdamped. Hence I went for the Nitrons.
However, it did feel different - much more stifly sprung - than other Tuscans, supposedly the suspension had been altered from standard at build to suit the 1st buyers demands. All I can say is that it must have been set up for very smooth roads!
I had Nitrons on the Griff that I owned before the Tuscan so I'd always thought I'd end up changing for them.

If you hit the first bump hard enough, you sail over the others!

Mine was definitely under sprung and over damped originally. The suspension was way too slow to react over bumps and would really bounce around on uneven roads, yet the softer springs meant it gave a really un-nerving floating sensation when settling into quick bends. The Nitrons addressed all these issues and you can quickly alter the feel of the car depending on conditions etc.

Thats strange to me, I've never felt a sensation like floating or bouncing? I'm assuming each TVR is set up differently to each customer when theyre built is that right? Mines DEAD firm ...TOO firm
