When you were looking for a TVR, did anyone here who now owns a Tuscan debate whether to get a Cerbera? Please keep your posts objective as possible.
TVR ownership is imminent but I am having a really hard time deciding between a Cerbera or a Tuscan, evern after driving both.

The pop 'n' crackle of the Cerb is awesome, so are the looks. The Tuscan has a better cabin and is a nicer place to be, also can be roofless.

Both are great to drive, and I can't separate them in that dept.

Both also scare me with worrying stories on this great forum.

In short, why choose a Tuscan over a Cerb?

Thanks

Cerbie's got one the Tuscan has or hasn't depending on the weather.

Good Thread. I loved the Cerb but I am just a little bit chunky for them. I also found that the view from inside could be a little restrictive. Top car top sound classic lines. I went for the Tuscan due to room inside and view (It wasnt quite the pillar box raked windscreen of the Cerb) I've had the Tuscan for just over 2 years now and I love it. (I did have a rebuild which I had to pay for) but it did nothing to dampen my enthusiasm. I also have no CATS so the Pops and bangs are all present and correct.

At the end of the day both are fantastic motors and it is all down to whatever floats your boat.

Happy motoring.

For me it was the fact theat although the V8 Cerbs are a little quicker, I wanted the open roof, looks, styling and sound of the Tuscan. For me it pressed (and still does) all the right buttons. I keep the Chim as I love the V8 rumble (very different from the cerb) and it is a better daily driver, although the Tuscan is not bad during the times the Chim has been away for servicing/repairs.

What do you think are the advantages / disadvantages of each ?

How abouts "Why NOT a Tuscan!!!!!!!"

On the other hand.......this would make a very short thread!!!

Seriously, the most amazing looking and driving car ever.Today I passed Astons, Porkers etc and everyone was paying more attention to me...more importantly all hell was breaking loose as I put my foot down in 2nd!!!

You really have to experience it to understand........really!!!

I do love the look of the Cerb though, but as soon as I realisaed I could go for the Tuscan there was no choice to be made!!!

I would have loved to have a cerb but my garage is not wide enough to open the drivers door wide enough to allow me to get out.

If your asking why? then you'll never get a proper answer, is the Beatles better than the Stones? could the Who be better than them? Who cares have a listen to them all and then drive them.
Once smitten you'll be like all the rest of us.

Best Regards

Very true, and I take that into account.
Thanks for the replies gents

I have driven both, and like I say they have both got pro's and con's.

Cerbera pro's:
jaw dropping looks
solid great sounding engine
Cerbera con's:
letterbox view and slightly clostrophobic cabin
no roofless action
long doors could be a problem in garage

Tuscan pro's:
Targa top option
better cabin than Cerb
shorter doors, easier garage access
Tuscan con's:
engine horror stories worry me
thats it though

The thing is, although the Tuscan has less con's than the Cerb, the looks and sound of the Cerb are so good I'm less worried about the cons.

I really am torn between the two and just can't decide. So I thought I'd post this thread to probe further into Tuscan ownership to see if there is anything else I hav'nt taken into account or han'nt thought of.

Thanks again for your input.

Just out of interest how wide is the Tuscan - I've got a 7 foot garage with a tight angle approaching it, will it fit? Get my Elise in OK with a few 1st/reverse manouvres

The problem will be the turning circle - about the same as a large oil tanker and certainly greater than an elise. From memory the tuscan is about 5'11" but I could be wrong.

Swapped my 4.5 Cerbera for a Tuscan S. Best move I ever made. Cerbera was brillliant but the Tuscan S is soooo much better in a n all round sort of way!
