Just been on a dealers website and there is a picture of a new Tuscan 2 Targa with the T 2's Cab dash. Does anybody know if this is now the standard dash for both tuscan models or can you now request either one?

Does anybody know whether they do retrofits? the original pod sucks and the Lady Topaz's fix is great but only gets you there halfway. I miss my Tamora dials

Hello everyone,

Greetings from Japan! I was very close on deciding to purchase a brand new Tuscan Mk 2 Targa this year, until I read on this e-mail string that the dash configuration for all Tuscans has changed to that of the Convertible. While I loved the Jules Vernesque Tuscan Mk 1 dash, I've actually grown to quite fancy the originally installed Mk 2 digital dash pod (as described/shown by Lady Topaz). As a personal choice I don't care for the convertible dash, both the dial instruments themselves, and the gaping glove compartment type opening on the passenger side, as well as the swoopy dash top. Therefore, I'm very concerned with reading that the Mk 2 Targa dash has now been changed to that of the convertible's dial configuration. If this is true, presume cost/standardization was the reason.

So, is anyone in a position to verify the following with certainty, given that this will impact my final decision?:

1. Is this true?
2. If so, why?
3. And, as "tovie" and "almack" have asked, even if the new convertible dash is now the "standard" one for all Tuscans, is the original Mk2 digital pod configuration still available as either a no-cost/cost option?

Appreciate any definitive information since the Mk 2 Tuscan will not be formally introduced in Japan until this coming weekend, and then, only the convertible model will be shown to the press -- the Targa will reportedly not arrive until the Spring. The main Japanese TVR dealer in Tokyo was not aware of this reported change in dash configuration, which is what lead me to ask you good folks on Pistonheads.

Thanks in advance to anyone/everyone who can provide a bit more clarity on this.

Cheers,

Kevin

Have a look at the David Gerald site

Under new cars there is a Tuscan S Targa with the convertable dash.

Have just seen the new dash in the flesh... it's awful!

As someone who only bought a T2 8 months ago, I am horrified at what they have done to the T2 interior. I would not have bought one with the new interior. For me this was THE big selling point of the Tuscan over the Sagaris.

I hear that you cannot now get the "old style" dash. This seems a retrograde step to me. Come on TVR - at least give the option...

I have got to agree this is a mistake surely it looks awful the T2 dash is fine I like the LCD display now it’s been modified and I have not had any problems seeing the display in bright light. The dash on the T2 was a unique selling point and is in keeping with the car. To not be given the choice when purchasing the car would seem to be a mistake. Better still just loose this awful new style dash.
