Sticking accelerator
Discussion
Hi all,
Just wondered if anyone has experienced the accelerator sticking down on the tuscan? Had the box open and this seems to be fine. Also took the air filter box off and the accelerator always went back correctly. Checked for any rubbing marks on the box and none to be found. filter box back on, seems fine, start her up and in no time its sticking againg. You can pull the accelerator back and it returns to normal, but you have to manually do this with your foot.
Any ideas?

Are you sure it's not the throttle cable on the way out?
Seems like a common problem - just type 'sticking throttle' into the search under Tuscan.
Can't imagine changing the cable would be a difficult (or expensive) thing to discount.

Sounds like a no brainer this one, but have you given the peddle box a really good clean?
I was driving mine back from the dealers last year, went for an overtake, completed it, took my foot off the throttle and the car was still pulling like a train towards a rapidly approaching lorry
Clutch dumped and off with the ignition. After a good root around the box, which was pretty clean but had a fair bit of grit aroung the lubricated bits, I found a biro! Not even a sodding Bic biro, just a cheap nasty one that I'd picked up from a customer.
It had wedged itself around the throttle linkage.
Biro removed, underwear changed, girlfriend plied with alcohol to stop the shaking, problem solved
