Key Fob is faulty - if it fails how do i get in it!

As suggested in the title it took me 3 hours to get the fob working!

I will order another key this week! but if it fails again how could i gain access without damaging my car!

(And call me picky I was not best pleased about the prospect of leaving it in a multi story car park all night!)

Any tips greatfully accepted.
