Hi My car is due a 6k service in May and I have just been quoted £550.
Is this the going rate?. What is involved in the 6k service,is it not just filter (air/oil)new oil, plugs etc.semms pretty expensive just for keeping up the service history.
Anyone do there own servicing or use local garages,

I would use TVR dealer for 12K service because of Tappets etc but not sure about 6K.

any suggestions!

There are huge variations between dealers, some charging over double others. no idea about your area tho, i use Harrogate H. C.'s (Drivestyle now) and cost about £450ish + another £100ish to have the tappets checked(no adj needed) last year. Still stupidly expensive tho. TMS (sadly no more) were a lot more. If your car is still in warranty(2yrs on engine) as mine was then it has to be approved dealer, D.

TMS charged me £700 for a 6k service a couple of years back so it does seem to vary within the dealer network. I think TVR Power are around the £500 mark. Plenty of well thought of indies around who will cost less, (although having looked at your profile maybe not in your area)

Hi Folks,
This Automeden looks a good proposition, if you're like me and enjoy the Promenade, kiss me long and slowly hats, hot chesnuts & doughnuts? the car can get the service, secure parking and no parking charges have a holiday, what more do we need?
My servicing costs have gone down since my initial purchase as I do use the car reguarly, as long as I continue to live in Jersey my agent will do for me, although these guys look like they would have the first of my business if I leave.

Best Regards,

James Sim.

Green Star in Blackpool's fixed price servicing is cheaper still than all above and you get discount if in TVRCC.

If this is Dreadnought I am sure they do the tappets as part of a 6000 mile service as well.

Hi Allan,
I was of the impression that the tappets only required adjusting every 12K.

I was thinking about using a local garage to change oil/filters etc, are the cars really that diffrent from a normal car to service. I dont mind paying for the 12K costs as its kinda specialised, but if the 6k is just oils and filters and general check do I really have to pay someone £60 hour.!

we'll have to catch up some time Iv'e seen your your car around it looks awsome..

I think there's a full service schedule on TVR Power's website. It'll show you what needs doing.
