Good news Nige. Dave and the chaps really know their trade there, your car will be well looked after if you use them for regular servicing as well. Its a hell of a drive for me but I intend to maintain their services when I get mine back.
While you were in there did you get a look at the monster power Viper they have for sale?

Spoke to Dave this morning Graham. Apparently he's waiting on camshafts being made now, although the new redesigned finger followers have turned up.
I think our cars will be ready at similar times although obviously yours will have the additional supercharger. I'm sitting here looking out at the sunshine, and can't wait to have her back. I watched the SpeedEight thread with interest..funny how all the hysteria disappeared when the £13k price tag was revealed. Have to admit I breathed a sigh of relief! Roll on May and fingers crossed.

Hi Al,
Many thanks for the info.....I too cannot wait. I missed the best of summer last year, but I intend to make up for it this summer. Good news is I will be UK based from early May until the end of the year so should get plenty use from it. If its ready in time LeMans is the first venue and may do the later EuroHoon with PH.
The speed8 thread was a good read and a good debate, I learned a lot from it. It would be interesting to see just how many take Richard up on it, and IMO the 13K price tag is very reasonable. I wish him luck, but I still think I made the better choice by going the TVRCraft route. Theirs are properly sorted S6 engines which is just what I wanted, after all its the engine the car was designed around. I have to say I was a little disapointed at the exhaust note on the Speed8, all tho Big Al intimated it sounds better in the flesh and I am sure it could be easily improved upon.
Here's to a hot summer of sun split skies and plenty top off Tuscan driving...

I agree with others on this thread - the Autocraft route is the best solution - or rather it will be the best solution once proven.
In the meantime I think the S8 option is very attractive, although there is of course a question mark over how the car will feel / drive differently.

I agree it's good value, my point was that a lot of people on the SP8 thread seemed to be looking for a cheap fix (why wouldn't you?), when one doesn't really seem to exist. It's the nature of the beast. Richard's Speedeight project is a great innovation for those who've lost faith in the SP6, and a valuable alternative. Ultimately you have to compare costs of getting the Tuscan to a point where it's delivering the original promised performance without catastrophic wear to the engine.
The fact that the SP8 conversion costs involve new box, ancillaries etc, doesn't really indicate that it's better value than the Autocraft route, which utilises the existing gear. They both should produce the same benefit to the driver - less sleepless nights and more time on the road. You either put your faith in the future in engineering terms or the past. It's great to have a choice.

Graham,
Was reading another thread on here regarding heat emission from the SP6 manifolds, which I have experienced with my car.
I know that the MCD SP6 is going to produce significantly more BHPs, especially with yours being supercharged. Is it going to generate a lot more heat though (if possible) and what can be done to counter this? Some sort of heat sheildin, etc? Just curious, will ask Dave,

Evening all,
just moonlighting over here in the Tusc forum and spotted this thread so I thought I'd share an update as I believe my Cerb is the only TVR Craft (seriously) fettled baby on the road.
I've clocked up almost 2000 miles since I got her back in early January and all is well. Had a 200 mile blast today and am now getting into the serious application of throttle stages as I've wanted to bed the engine in steadily. The car is pulling great from 2500 revs even in high gears and really lets fly as you move though 4500 revs (could be something to do with the RR cam timing
).
The engine note is distinctly higher at the upper end of the rev range and she spits, cackles and bangs a lot more on the overrun which is nice. I'm ever aware of the oil pressure (constant) and water temp (runs slightly higher than before at an indicated 95 degress). Hasn't used a drop of oil thus far which means that my local car shop is now very long on Mobil 1!!!
All in I'm really pleased, she's off to Silverstone Performance for some running gear love nd attention and then I plan to run a few track days and get her back on the rollers at Craft for a before and after comparison.
Hope all those with motors at Craft see them back on the road soon - you'll be thrilled with the results.
We should have a Craft 'reunion' in the summer - there's some great roads around Salisbury not to mention the odd alluring pub!

Hi Al,
The Craft guys have a cunning method for cooling the charge temp, but common sense would suggest that the combustion temps will increase the harder the engine is made to work. The head and exhaust manifolds will most likely run at a higher temp when the car is pushed hard. I did ask Dave early on if he considered it worth while lagging the manifolds, but he did'nt recommend it for road use (inclement weather....lagging falls apart after a while). I am sure its something they will have considered and if there is an issue they will come up with a solution. Doesn't harm to ask though.

Hi JT,
That is indeed superb news and we all should be reading lots more of the same from others come the end of summer. Whilst 2000 miles may not yet be enough to prove the products worth, you just know its right when you hear it running so smoothly. My guess is that it will still be running the same come the day you sell it on....with what ever number of miles on it.
The paranoia gauge watching will soon cease......I'll be exactly the same for a while. Having said that tho, you do need to determine new base settings for different periods of the year. This way you have more chance to spot any trouble brewing.
I will be posted in St Neots for the summer so a squirt across to Salisbury for a cold one will most certainly be on the cards.
Take care and just keep on enjoying the experience of
your TIV. Regards
