Does anyone know how it's possible to upgrade a 2000 Tuscan radio pod for the later design? I've heard it rumored that there's a retro kit incl. wiring loom for the doors. Anyone got the knowledge?

What do you mean by the later design? I still need a replacement pod for mine where it was broken by some er while stealing my stereo.

There may well have been a kit available to the dealers to modify early cars that had the door openers combind with the window winder to the door openers at the side of the stereo, although it may be hard to get hold of now. Might be best to try one of the breakers such as Douglas Valley or Bell Hill Garage. I have a spare portland grey pod with door switches, but it is slightly smaller than some as you can't fit the trim that goes around the stereo.

I changed my radio pod last weekend. I purchased the new style one from Bell Hill breakers for £40 with both the switches included. To wire the door switches is quite simple if you have a multimeter, find the two wires that make a connection when the original door opening switch is made, one will be colored one will be black. cut the colored one and connect that to the micro switch on the new pod and the black one needs to be connected to the new pod switch and the old door opening switch as it provides a negative supply for opening the windows. I did this all from where the leather centre console plug disconnects so it can easily be removed. AS for fitting the pod it was quite difficult as i found the pod sits slightly further back not allowing enough room for the radio to sit flush. This was fixed by the drastic measure of cutting/drilling /filing a hole in the back of the dash so the radio had more room. This took quite a while and alot of guts to start drilling my TVR but the final result is good. If you need more help i can send photos of the process and a wiring diagram to help. Hope this is of some use. Rich

Hi Richard. I am looking to replace the stero pod in my Tuscan and have run into the same problem regarding insufficient clearance at the rear of the stereo in the new pod. Could you provide further details/pictures of the approach you took to resolve please? Much appreciated.
