I am looking at TVRs at the moment and want a wind in the hair experience. I really like the Tuscan. Can someone tell me how easy/hard and how long it takes to take the targa top off and put it back on?

Thanks
Graham

Roof of and put in boot about 3-minutes, but you might want to take the rear window out as well so you can add another few minutes,It,s easy to do and certainly better than the roofs in something like an elise.

better than an elise roof in what way? i accept it's not a hard top like the tuscan, but i can take off my roof and get it in the boot in about 30 secs now, no problem.

I have been reading several other posts in relation to the tuscan roof with interest. It would seem that my roof comes off and goes in the boot a lot easier than anyboby elses as I can remove mine and stow it in under a minute.... what am I doing differnt to everyone else?
I must say that I have even considered (although not as yet tried) removing it while sitting at traffic lights!!!

It's a piece of cake.

You just pull back two levers in the boot, undo a catch by the rear view mirror and then lift the roof panel off. This then fits in the boot. It shouldn't really take any longer than a minute or two.

Yep even I can do it. Though at first my rear screen was impossible to get back in. Eventually had to get 4 strong men to do it. Adjustment by dealer sorted it.
My advice would be to not rush the roof panel and ensure the rear lugs are away from paint surround. I have seen loads of scratches by dropping the lid before the front rim is seated properly.

Roof off 1 min. Back on a few mins longer. Ditton rear screen. Piece of cake.

Easiest roof to get down ever though was the Fiat spider, could do it with 1 hand. Once flipped it down on the Chiswick Flyover whilst doing 30!

You can do the same with an MX-5 (not sure about the new model though). Don't think there is any easier roof than the MX-5.
It is so light you can also CLOSE it with one hand in about 5 seconds, while staying in the driver seat. This is probably not possible with the Fiat, as I think you need to get off the car to apply some pressure on the roof to close the hooks.
Mind you, I am not suggesting to buy an MX-5. I have just sold my MX-5 to buy a Tuscan Convertible. Reason is that although the MX-5 is 100% perfect and reliable, it lacks the soul, and of course the performance, of a Tuscan.

Christiaan, done it at the lights.. and not even a horn honked!

sometimes a struggle with 2 sets of golf clubs in the boot but otherwise ;-)

think other 2 seaters forget just HOW much space there is in a Tuscan

Boarder.... Maybe the colour makes it easier .
I might time myself tonight then give it a try at a set of lights this weekend if the weather holds

It seems a doddle in a Topaz coloured one! Off and back on in one change of the lights (worth a try, good fun!)

Much easier than the hard top on my old car - Off - three man lift to shed - back on when the season changed!

About 90 secs for the targa with a further 60 for the rear screen including putting it into the bag. OK so its not a motorised roof but think about how much weight/reliability you save (Merc motors are notoriously unreliable). Also you only use a little of the adequate boot space.

If that is the only thing you are worried about JFDI.
